Since Coach Mora was hired, UConn has participated in bowl games 2 of the past 3 seasons, winning the Wasabi Bowl. Husky Fans showed up in droves for the Fenway-Wasabi Bowl. There has been radio silence about the trickle down effect in regarding sales of season tickets. Hoping for sales in the 25-27,000 range. This program needs more fan support from the general public. I know that I'm preaching to the choir...

We're not breaking 20K without a conference. With one, sell-outs will be back.
As part of the AAC we drew less than 30k fans to about 75-80% of our games.

There is zero chance we get to 25K season ticket sales. Honestly I hope we average 25K actual fans in the stands this year. We need to back up last year with another strong year to gain real momentum. If we got into Big 12 we would have no issues filling the seats.

Question for season ticket holders-like most folks here, I want to maximize my support for UConn in a way that is financially responsible for my family. I’m trying to figure out the best way to do this that still includes going to football games instead of just making a straight donation without going to games?

When the Rent first opened, we bought season tickets for many years but then I ultimately stopped because as a coach myself, I was missing too many games. We switched to buying individual game tickets and just increased our annual donations.

I’m thinking about getting season tickets again, and I am curious about the $50 “ticket fee.” Does this go to UConn, or the company that manages the Rent? I understand the $75 “required donation” goes where I want it to.

I am considering doing what I did most recently-just buying individual game tickets and making a separate donation to UConn. But I also understand there is value to UConn in being able to cite a higher amount of season tickets holders, too…

Presumably the $50 fee goes to the company that manages the ticketing process? Or maybe the State as the owner of the Rent? In either event, my opinion is that you can show the most support for the program by buying season tickets, even if they are the least expensive season tickets. The number of season ticket holders can be an important metric for the school administration, State political leaders and other conferences so you would be making a difference.

Thanks for your perspective-that’s a good point.

I really think you need to pair football season tickets with basketball season tickets. Even if it’s the worst seats at the rent. Basketball season ticket holders wouldn’t pass up the chance for Gampel or Hartford just because of an extra 100 dollars that go to football. You instantly raise the number of FB Season ticket holders even if people don’t end up showing.

You’d be surprised. Some people just don’t value getting wasted and grilling great food in an old airfield. It’s sad.

Even if you're buying single tickets, that fee is going to be there. For the seats you're looking at, the Central Connecticut game is $7 .. 2 for ticket fee and 5 for facility fee. For the Duke game it's $10.50 and Ball St. is 8. So.. at least with season tickets, it's straight-lined at 8.33/game

The $5 per game facility fee that's included in those larger fees definitely goes to UConn. It has been used as part of the financing for the enhanced athletic facilities on campus.

Not exactly season tix sales numbers but looks like those fees (and donations ) have been adding up !

Good to know-thank you!

What's worse than that, there are some basketball fans who want so badly for th he football program to go away they'd sacrifice their basketball tickets if purchasing those tickets included supporting the football program.

My Dad started buying football and soccer tickets (I think it was in the early 80s) because you got more basketball points. He didn't know much about soccer but started going to the games and fell in love with it. After college late 80s we started going to football games at Memorial Stadium, we would go early, you could walk into the fieldhouse and watch the team practice, I have been going to football ever since.

Perhaps they should revive the practice of offering more points or some sort of extra benefits for your basketball seats when you purchase football tickets.

Is this just for athletics?

Good question...not sure how they add it up but I do remember this....from the Uconn Foundation a few years back

"UConn Foundation achieved an all-time-high fundraising total for the fourth straight year, as donors contributed $157.9 million in new gifts and commitments in the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2023. These funds, which represent a 37% increase over last year’s $115 million total, will support UConn’s academic, research, and public service missions across all campuses and UConn Health.......The celebration of the men’s basketball team’s NCAA title continued as donations for the Division of Athletics totaled $27.9 million. Support for UConn Health reached $15 million in fiscal 2023"

Unfortunately there are a lot of people who only come for the tailgate. They tailgate then go home. I asked some people at one of our combined tailgates where they were sitting. They stated they were just there for the tailgate then going home.

If people don’t show up, that’s a problem… the Rent really gets rocking when the team is good, imagine a big game against a power conference team and we have thousands of empty seats for those basketball buy ups? Bad look.
