Conference expansion playing havoc with scheduling. I never liked the idea of non conference games being scheduled so many years in advance. Too many things change. I think the B1G is only guaranteeing 1 rival game per season. Everything else will be on a rotating or semi rotating basis. Rutgers 2024 has USC-UCLA -Washington on schedule. But off the schedule are their annual games against Ohio ST-Penn ST-Michigan. Go figure.

Ultimately athletic directors are risk averse cowards and with only 12 games on the schedule and 3 floating for discretion nobody wants to take a quality loss to the 15th best team in the country

"Ohio State has never played UConn. The schools agreed to a buyout of $650,000 to UConn for the cancelation. If the game had been played, Ohio State would have paid UConn $1.95 million."
Amazing to me that this one game would have paid Uconn $1.95M. And yet NCAAhoopdigest reported that the current Fox deal with the Big East only nets each school $4.6M annually.

Puts into perspective the uphill battle we're trying to fight, doesn't it? When people say "football drives the bus". This is what they're talking about. Ohio St. gets 50M from the Big10 for media rights per year. We have to collect our media rights for 12 years to equal what Ohio St. gets in one year.

Ohio State Athletic operating revenue last year was $280 million. Of course they almost spent the same amount around $274 million.
