2025 Bowl Predictions

I don't see why you can't create a bowl out of thin air. Most of us have to wait until the bowl assignments become official to book travel. That's why I had to laugh when the Fenway Bowl sent me an email a few weeks ago saying tickets were already on sale.

Can you make up a bowl at the last minute and fill it up with excited fans? Of course not. Can you rent a stadium, invite two teams and get yourself 3 and a half hours of live event to put on ESPN2 in December? Yup. Guess which the goal is?
It's even less getting eyes on ESPN2 and more getting more content for bettors

What I remember is UMass when they were independent had a bowl tie-in. Why can't UConn have that?

CBS last week: literally forgot about us

CBS this week: puts us in one of the best bowls.

what a change! can’t wait to go bowling!!
We would apparently be a backfill for a SEC vacancy. Works for me but it would have to depend on the snow.

Two of those are basically home games for the opponent. Still, any bowl vs. a P4 school is more desirable.
Going off what Scott has said about the SEC slots not being filled, my best guess is we end up in one of the following:

Gasparilla
Liberty
Duke’s Mayo
Pinstripe
Fenway

Any of those would be a good spot for us, and almost certainly against a P4 team. I’m confident we’ll be happy with what we get

Yeah, defend the coach that left over the kids, your logic is stunningly backwards.
Point being that by your logic you would rather have a crap HC whom nobody wants to hire vs a competent one who actually is sought out by other programs.

To be clear while the SEC spots will be the open ones, there will likely be some level of horse-trading among conferences, bowl sponsors, networks (well ESPN in particular) to maximize the revenue opportunities. The key thing for UConn is that conferences are not able to meet their contracted allotment which opens opportunities for the Huskies to be the back fill

I thought Delaware was not bowl eligible in their first year of FBS, is that no longer?

Delaware (and Missouri St.) became eligible once all those 5-6 teams lost yesterday and there weren't enough bowl-eligible teams to fill all the bowls.

Here's what I found so far for projections:

Salute To Veterans Bowl - UConn vs. Old Dominion (ESPN-Bonaguru)
Cure Bowl - UConn vs. James Madison (NYTimes)
Myrtle Beach Bowl - UConn vs. Coastal Carolina (Athlon Sports)
Myrtle Beach Bowl - UConn vs. East Carolina (CFNews)
Gasparilla Bowl - UConn vs. Wake Forest (ESPN-Schlabach)
Fenway Bowl - UConn vs Navy (The Sporting News)
Birmingham Bowl - UConn vs. Navy (Pro Football Network)
Independence Bowl - UConn vs. East Carolina (HERO Sports)
Duke's Mayo Bowl - UConn vs. NC State (CBS Sports)

(Just FYI - many of the final predictions last year had us in the Fenway Bowl but nobody had us against UNC)

Everything I’ve seen says the Myrtle Beach Bowl against Coastal Carolina. Being 9-3 and never having lost a game in regulation, I was hoping for a game with a little more sizzle.

Best chance at 10 wins for me.

I’ve only seen this prediction once for this week (Athlon). Have you seen it anywhere else?

Once Mora left and turmoil set in the upper echelon bowls like Dukes Mayo, Liberty, or Gasparilla might’ve slipped past our reach.

Yes, but I got disgusted and clicked out immediately. I guess based on where we were a few years ago, any bowl is good.

College Football News: Gasparilla vs. USF

Projection Sports: Mayo vs. Wake Forest

Sports Sentiment: Cure Bowl vs. Southern Miss

Would you guys rather play a G5 team and have a better chance at reaching 10 wins or play a tougher P4 team and have a lower win chance but against a higher quality opponent? I lean towards the latter.

I think you need to change your name, it's too triggering now.

Given that we now have guys declaring for the portal due to our former head coach bailing under cover of moonlight, I'd opt for the former to get a higher chance at securing 10 wins. That's the stat that's important now: 10 wins, not losing to a quality opponent and being "stuck" at 9 before our entire team and staff get decimated in the off season.

Ten wins would be nice but I'd still prefer a P4 matchup. Playing a P4 is always more appealing for a bowl game, although I worry how our defense will fare against any P4 or G5 team.
