2025 Bowl Predictions

People are treating things like UConn is the last pick and only gets in if there aren't enough 6-win teams. That's not the case.

After a conference can't fill its allotted spots, the non-contracted teams can be picked. The SEC (among others) will not fill their contracted spots. The leftover bowls can then pick from any other team who is not contractually placed elsewhere. UConn will be the top pick among the available Eastern teams (who'll primarily come from the Sun Belt, MAC level). They will find a home. Out west I'd expect Washington State and some MWC teams to be a higher selection due to proximity.

BTW if you're following the eligibility needle here is their prediction:

Expected outcome: All eligible teams bowling + Missouri State + Delaware (w/ win) + 1-2 APR teams
That means there wouldn't be enough 6 win teams, which would allow both Missouri State and Delaware (but only if they win) plus at least one, if not two (if Delaware loses) 5 win teams to get placed.

You guys need to listen to Scott. He knows his stuff.

There will be plenty of open slots the way things are going. Some 5-7 teams may even get bids. I think UConn would like to play in front of a lot of their fans. A lot of southern schools think the same way. So it should be possible to wheel and deal since the southern schools are not so keen to come to New England or NY.

Right now: North Carolina & Wisconsin would be the potentially eligible 5-win teams to be placed after the other bowls (there would be some wheeling/dealing there)
10 bucks says we get 5-7 Wisconsin in a bowl game. We win then people say “who cares” they beat a losing team. We lose we can’t even beat a losing team.

We get a 5-7 P4 team and win, we celebrate 3 P4 wins on the year and that's all they remember about a 10-win season. We'd be yelling it from the mountains as we'd likely be the only team in G5/G6 with 3 P4 wins (Tulane is the only other G5 team with 2 P4 wins and as of right now, for them to get a 3rd they'd have to win the 5/12 playoff game).

UConn won't be close enough to getting ranked for anyone to note anything else, or bother going beyond the highlights of the record, even with a 10th win.

Stop winning 10 games is a big deal it would get attention, no matter how you slice it. Sure you would have critics who say we’ll look at the schedule but that’s also attention right there so there’s interest.

So…then all we need is a conference slot that’s left open? Like, a 6-6 SBC team wouldn’t be getting an open slot in an SEC bowl over us if there were no slots left in the SBC, correct?
This is correct. As it is now, the SEC will not be able to fill 3-4 bowl slots (depending on how many teams go to the CFP). Those will become At-Large slots and we’re not going to get leap-frogged by a team like FIU to fill a spot in the Gasparilla Bowl. We’re good.

There will be a replacement for the Bahamas Bowl, location TBD. So Delaware and MO State are both bowling too.
That’s what everyone keeps saying but isn’t it a bit late in the game to just create a new bowl out of thin air? Lol

CBS has us in the Dukes Mayo Bowl

It's been done before. They just use a site that was already gearing up to host a bowl.

NC State would be a chance for Juice Vereen and Justin Joly to see some of their old teammates.

Current projections, minus ESPN.

CBS: UConn vs NC State - (Duke’s Mayo Bowl)

Pro Football SN: UConn vs Navy - (Birmingham Bowl)

Athlon Sports: UConn vs Coastal Carolina (Myrtle Beach Bowl)

Hero Sports: UConn vs ECU (Independence Bowl)

Two of those are basically home games for the opponent. Still, any bowl vs. a P4 school is more desirable.
