2025 Bowl Predictions

I think the way fans showed up last year at the Fenway Bowl will go a long way for us in a bowl selection this year. The bigger bowls want teams that bring fans. We brought fans last year. Sure it was a short drive, but we showed up in force! I’m sure bowls will take note of this when looking for teams to select in December, assuming they are not required to take a team.

OOF....sorry to hear that....I had a weirdly mild case of shingles fifteen years ago....never got much of a skin outbreak, but had all kinds of abdominal and side pain....doctors couldn't figure it out for over a week until a nurse noticed several "pock marks" in a line and they tested...voila.
Needless to say I went and got the shingles vaccine a couple years ago...I've seen some people with unbelievable outbreaks from shingles and I don't want that shizzle. Feel better...hope you can get to the game Saturday!
Thanks, man. Antivirals working but half my face looked like the elephant man. Eye swollen shut. Real mess. But things are like 100% better other than I still scare small children with blisters all over. This just totally sucks. For the rest of you “I don’t need a shingles vaccine” heroes like me, trust me, do the shots.

My deepest sympathy/empathy. I had shingles misdiagnosed and caught late that went over my scalp to my forehead; absolutely the worst thing ever. Three levels of pain, the excruciating surface pain of the open wounds, the debilitating nerve pain that traveled back and forth just under my scalp, and the thudding headache. I've had every shingles vaccines since in fear of it returning.

Yuck!

ESPN predicts either Myrtle Beach vs Troy or Gasparilla vs Utah State.

Both awful bowls and both before the holidays and on a Friday.

We should do better than either of those bowls but I know we have our hands tied not being in a conference.

If we close out the season strong, I wouldn’t be too worried about our bowl/opponent. Don’t think we’d get stuck in a bowl like that

Earlier in this thread, the discussion was focused around if UConn would make a bowl at 6-6 and no conference tie-ins.

Given that we now have 7 wins (including a duke win), should we still be worried about this possibility?

Is it metaphysically impossible for us to be excluded as we sit here today? No. But the odds that we are shut out are such that I would spend my time worrying about slightly more likely possibilities. Like someone you love being killed by a flower pot falling from their balcony onto their head.,

7-5 is probably gauranteed some low tier bowl against a middle of the back Sun Belt, C-USA team. I think 9-3 will get us at least a mid level P4 team in some middle tier bowl game. Which is beyond anything we would have excepted 4 years ago.

My guess is UConn will play in the Fenway Bowl again. Why? Most likely, the SEC will get 4 or 5 schools into the CFP which means the SEC won't fill all of their bowl slots and some attractive bowls will need schools so there will be trading of slots between bowls. I would think the schools to take the SEC slots would be AAC or ACC schools.

I've thought about it and realized that bowl organizations might want to see Fagnano and Bell in a bigger game because of how great they've been (a more active fan base doesn't hurt either). That consideration could put us in a relatively higher-profile game against a quality opponent.

I just want a P4 opponent. A G5 opponent offers little upside with a win and potential hurt with a loss. A P4 opponent (even if they are an objectively worse team than the G5 opponent) looks great with a win and negative impact is mitigated by the "Power" status of the opponent.

I just had my wife move the flower pot off the balcony

If we' go to the Pinstripe Bowl to play a Big10 team I'm not interested in Rutgers (barf). That's a no win situation. A Rutgers win drags us down and a UConn win would draw a "who cares Rutgers stinks" response. I would rather play any other average Big10 team.
I'd rather play Rutgers in a bowl game than some lesser known team. BC is not a great ACC team but I don't think that victory dragged us down. Beating a B1G team would be great.

If that happens, it will be fun to hear how Rutgers was our 1st win against a power conference team. And the first power team we beat twice. And the first power conference team we beat thrice. And the first power conference team we beat four times. And the first power conference team we beat five times....

They should include 2 more logos not eligible

From what I understand, Delaware and Missouri State are not eligible in their first year unless not enough teams qualify for bowl games. They were also not eligible for the FCS playoffs in 2024 due to it being their final year in FCS. I think it's a stupid rule

Blue Hens (5-4) play at Sam Houston (1-8)
Missouri State (6-3) hosts UTEP (2-7)

Liberty Bowl against Baylor Jan 2nd?? Sign me up.
The Bowl says it picks from BIG 12 and SEC--but if we were to slide in vs Baylor it would be a great trip, great game and a chance for BIG 12 folks to take stock of what UConn might look like playing in the conference. Given our growing notice by sports media (and who knows whether there would be possible interest by the ACC), if I'm Yormark and wanting UConn for BBall and Northeast exposure, but facing some meh responses from BIG 12 Presidents, I'm trying to lobby for a UConn vs BIG 12 Bowl game vs Baylor, Kansas, Cincy, etc.
