Not a good look for Miller IMHO
Considering we've seen players in similar situations get a second chance, I'm not sure how this is a bad look at this moment. Players get dismissed or asked to transfer and we never know the true reason. Coach Mulkey brought Morris to LSU after dismissing her at Baylor after she had her issues, which also included criminal charges.
Yea… I’m shocked. I thought her career is over
Wouldn't be surprised if Gabby Elliott had some influence here. Whitehorn was a team mate of hers when they were in highschool.

She got in trouble for some type of domestic abuse and was put on probation.

She was warned that she needed to fly straight and narrow both wrt the law and her team/school.
She did something illegal anyway.

Red flags flying everywhere.

Not to mention that the event involved driving after smoking mj , which is dangerous for both her and other drivers.

Fully aware of what happened and why she was dismissed. Again, programs look the other way much more than we're even aware of. The main difference in her case was that her situation was in the news making it easier for people to make judgments.

Vivian Stringer was very open about giving folks second or third chances. So, truthfully - what happened?

- A couple players didn't work out and were dismissed. One caused suspensions for otherwise well behaved teammates. A couple were dismissed mid-season

- A couple players worked out fine. How well behaved they were I have no idea, but they clearly adhered to Viv's rules. And I would note that she once dismissed a freshman recruit either before the season or after a game, saying the player didn't believe in the team's philosophy.

So, in the end, it doesn't seem to be a problem to give a second chance as long as you are on top of it.

.-.
I believe in second chances.
This is her 3rd chance. Her 2nd was being allowed back to TN after her 1st offense.

I think 2nd chances are fine. I can be skeptical when a young coach does it, as I think it's more about winning at all costs, and that's not a good sign for the future of the program. I was similarly skeptical of Caldwell's initial discipling here, for the same reason.

While I want to be empathetic, this is now Ruby's 3rd school-she started at Clemson, left and went to Tennessee for the money and then was involved in 3 very public situations, the last led to her dismissal from the team. There were rumors of prior violations not disclosed and that it was school that dismissed her, not Caldwell, but as noted logically by @KnightBridgeAZ Molly better have her eyes wide open and be on top of this to not have it be a black eye for what she is building at ASU. Fingers crossed....

I'm aware of the possession of marijuana and the domestic incident with a rumored girlfriend who would not return Whitehorn's phone and passport. I'm not saying the possession of marijuana charge is nothing but that doesn't necessarily wave red flags for me, especially since she wasn't under the influence while driving. What was the 3rd incident?

Has a do not contact tag. Either she doesn't want to be inundated right now as the season isn't over for the team, or wants to get a head start. She only played 4 games last year before getting injured, however only has 4 to play 4 in the Ivies.

Why announce in season. Seems crummy

Not really a distraction or surprise, as she was ineligible to play anymore at Princeton.

Allowed her to get out in front of the rush.

Do not contact...often means they already have a preferred new school.

I think she had a good game against us once. Let’s hope the big east doesn’t take a beating again this offseason. 😬

Molly talked about second or in this case third chances. I think it is important to have a balanced view of these young athletes who encounter trouble. The marijuana incident is less concerning than the domestic violence.

Given Molly's historical approach, philosophy, and previous work with athletes one could argue this is a positive thing for the person setting aside the athlete.

Of course I have a vested interest so...

Molly has her eyes wide open here. But those of us who have seen her in action particularly in her 6 years at Grand Canyon appreciate there's an underlining philosophy to her leadership far beyond basketball. This might well be a very very good thing for the young lady setting aside basketball.

At the Senior Day celebration three of the four seniors had family. Our leader from Detroit had I believe in nephew there. This was telling and I think reflective of what Miller brings to the whole person.

Sounds like you're referring to Gabby Elliott here and I think you make an interesting point. She also transferred several times, (Clemson-Michigan State-Penn State) before landing at Arizona State. There was chatter that she was asked to leave Michigan State, which to some could be seen as a red flag. Seeing how Elliott looks to have thrived at ASU, I'm not surprised Whitehorn has landed there as a feedback from a former team mate to both the coach and the player being recruited could carry a lot of weight.

And Gabby has repeatedly indicated how important the atmosphere and support she's received at Tempe has been for her this year. I think that this goes beyond good coaching and to a philosophy that Molly Miller has carried with her throughout her career.

The natural destination of a Berube product is UConn, especially since she’s local, a Jersey girl. Unfortunately I’m not sure there’s room at the inn for her. Also, she doesn’t appear to be quite the defender Kaitlyn was judging merely from stats, though it’s a different story on the offensive side of things.

Interesting that she is listed on today's Availability Report as out. I guess that means she is still on the team but I doubt she will be on the bench.

With Redus official, players have a 15-day window to enter the portal. Will be interesting to see how many opt to go in that direction.

I would say no on guards unless they are superstar quality and clear upgrades.
