2025-26 New school commitments by Transfers

With Elisa Mevius to Green Bay and Sammie Wagner to San Diego all five of Oregon’s portal transfers have found a new home. Hurray and best wishes to all. Three to mid majors and two to P4 (Williams to Houston, Rambus to Syracuse).

You might want to look at their football record in nil era.
The Cowboys certainly are not getting much of a bang for their buck. Ever since Pickens died OSU has struggled to a degree. But it’s not for the lack of financial resources.

Houston was 1-17 in the Big 12. Apparently they want to fix that. Portal entries: Justice Carlton from Texas, Esmeralda Enriques (JC Player of Year), former 4* Janiyah Williams from Oregon, 6'6" center Elodie Lutbert (all-Wac) from Tarleton State, and Mountain West Sixth Player of the Year from San Diego State. Not sure about Frosh except for Carlton's sister.
Looks like an overhaul.

The coach is Mathew Mitchell.

There was a brief mention in the Oliviyah Edwards thread, but it should be here. Yesterday Brooke Carlson, formerly of Colorado St., announced signing with Washington, their third portal addition. I had forgotten, but she is the player who lit up Michigan St. in the Tourney. Dropped 26 on Sparty, they couldn't stop her. Hopefully she'll have more games like that in her bag of tricks. 5-8 guard with 2 years of eligibility remaining.

Aaliyah Moore is on a visit too

I’m not sure, that’s up to the AD. If they finish in the bottom half of the league tho I can’t see her coming back for year 4.
They can finish in the bottom half of the league at 7-9 and add 13 weak non-conference wins. They would have a 20 win season and a tournament invite. Pretty much the same as last year. Is that enough to get her fired?

I can’t recall ever thinking of a coach on the hotseat before a season began. If they can’t sweep or split against teams like Kentucky, Ole Miss, Georgia, Alabama, Texas A&M, then I don’t see them with a winning record in the SEC. Not sure what their non conference looks like, but hopefully it’s not too challenging. And Caldwell has to have a plan B and drop the rigidity when it comes to making in game adjustments. You can’t bully top tier teams.

This coming season will really test Caldwell as a coach. To start with she has to meld a completely new roster, that may or may not be capable of running the same system she’s run over the past two seasons. While she’s secured several “good” players in the portal, her roster next season is in no way as talented or athletic as this past season. So she will need everyone to buy in and play as a team all season, something that clearly did not happen this past season.

Beyond that, there is the schedule. I assume that TN’s OOC schedule is loaded with cupcakes. Obviously, the LV’s need to beat every single cupcake on their schedule. A single loss to any “mid-major” will set off alarm bells among fans, the media and in the AD’s office. Then there is the brutal SEC schedule. TN could possibly be among the least talented teams in the conference. Maybe they win a handful of games on heart alone. But if they start getting pummeled game after game and then are one and done in the conference tournament, TN will have to make a change.

Considering he thought she did a great job this year, I find it hard to believe that this would get her fired.

I just don't really get having Gardener and Brown. It's like when they had Dugalic and Barker
