2025-26 New school commitments by Transfers

I'm pretty certain she is, indeed, a grad transfer. However, her Princeton Hoops bio didn't list her major (which kind of stunned me).
However, I assume she'll find something appropriate to study off the court at Notre Dame du lac.
Yes. St Rose will be a grad transfer. She tore her ACL 4 games into her jr season, which is why she has another year of eligibility. The Ivies don’t allow graduate students to compete on athletic teams, so Princeton’s loss is ND’s game. The Irish are getting a really good player who will pair up well with HH.

ND getting all of these NJ players is really ticking me off..........😒

not wrong, but 25 miles is a lot closer than 140 miles 😀
Definitely closer.

Close is a relative term. For a state as big as Texas, you can get a lot further than 140 miles away from your home town and still be in the same state. And plenty of players choose to go most or all of the way across the country for their college choice. In those cases "closer to home" usually doesn't mean 25 miles if they choose to transfer.

Wow. Carlton goes from being a starter on a Final Four team to Houston who went 7-23 a year ago and 1-17 in Big 12 play.
Or more than a little odd.
Maybe it was less about chasing a ring, and more about wanting to enjoy playing in an environment. I'm not saying Texas was bad, however, sometimes players get to big time programs and realize it's not a fit.

Wow, Oklahoma St. lost a lot, but now adding a lot back. They will be...interesting next season.

Game announcers can start practicing "McGill in to Crooks". This duo is by no means perfect, but it's a pretty surprising haul in the portal for OSU.

Curious to see if we get Iowa St 2.0, or if they can build more of a consistent winner with this new group. 🤔

Oklahoma State WBB - perhaps the 1st school with 2 players making more in Rev Share/NIL than their coach? Or has this been done before? (USC/UCLA?)
Could be wrong, but I’d venture a guess that Caitlin Clark was cleaning more than Bluder her final year. Same for Juju making more than Gottlieb.

Those two (plus Boston, Bueckers Flaueje) didn’t/don’t even take rev share with what they made in 3rd party NIL.

I wish schools had to pay equal shares of rev share to all players on their roster. Third party NIL belongs to the individuals.

Does anybody really think Audi is the best player in the portal?

Offensive consistency wise…yea. Haven’t seen too many players in the portal that you can build a team around. Vast majority are role players. So, if you’re depleted it’s a nice chess piece.

I like the idea of shares being split equally. Reinforces the concept of a team sport. Also might slow down the transfer portal. The current trend isn’t sustainable. And as a fan…I’m seriously contemplating finding something else to do with my time and money.

Crooks is unique. No other player in WBB is as effective scoring consistently in the low post. On the other hand for Crooks to be effective the team she’s on has to structure their entire offense and, to some degree, their defense around her: walk the ball up the court, feed the post and space your shooters while Crooks goes to work, play zone defense so Crooks doesn’t get caught on a switch out on the floor and make sure you have an option when Crooks needs a break, which will occur frequently throughout the game.

To some degree, going to OKlahoma State makes sense. The Cowgirls seem to go through large amounts of coming and goings virtually every year. So, this is the Crooks-model season, then they could adjust for the following season, depending on who is left and what portal players come in.

I enjoyed your Freudian slip (flip?) ! Many would contend she needs an accelerator 😊

You beat me to it. OT- will someone please tell me how I can have my emojis restored. I cannot access them anymore.

Not really. Journalists either understand the game to the same degree as an "OHHH! Points!" casual, or they exclusively write for those casuals. Probably a little of both.

So UConn is deciding to rest on its laurels for the 2026-27 season? They will not add to the same group that wasn’t tough enough to handle a more athletic and more aggressive South Carolina team and who struggled against a limited Notre Dame team in the Elite Eight? This feels like they are capping off their potential to “just make it to the Final Four”, not in position to win it all.

I guess you’ve given up on high school recruits altogether now. I guess this is the popular trend these days.

Perhaps Geno couldn't find the kind of players he was looking for in the portal and/or the players he was interested in didn't want to play a part time role at Conn......or maybe it was about the money.......also UConn is bringing in the number two ranked player in the class and a European guard who would likely be a top ten ranked player if she was playing in the US so they will be a different team next season....

It could be any of those. Since I saw getting another 4 as a real need, and not seeing any interest such as Morgan following a player (only two guards this year that went elsewhere) I conclude that Geno feels he can cover the backup 4 issue without one on the current roster.

That suggests a couple of possibilities. He thinks Morgan will be healthy and productive at a Uconn level and can cover the 4 position some. That still would be favoring small ball somewhat, a trait he clearly went to last year. Morgan can play there, but while she is a very good rebounder for a guard, and probably average for a 3, at the 4 it would be somewhat of a disadvantage.

My other thought is because of Olivia's perimeter skills on offense, he might want to play her some at the 4, with Jana or Gandy at the 5. I think on the offensive side the Big O could be fine at the 4. The question there would be the 5. This last season Geno did not have enough confidence in his 5's to use them for 40 minutes a game, going small for part of the time. If Jana made a pretty significant jump and Gandy was suddenly rotation worthy, then sure Olivia and Morgan between them could have backup 4 covered. But there are a lot of hopes, iffs and buts in that scenario, so I am surprised that it looks like he didn't feel to need to address this.

A third consideration may be for beyond this year. Long and/or Hassel look to be key recruits, and I think we need one of them very badly. A one year portal rental wouldn't affect the recruiting of them but a player for more than one year could have. Maybe that was a factor, I don't know.

Perhaps. But as of 9 a.m., 1,523 players had entered the portal, and only 393 had committed to new schools. (20 had withdrawn their names from the portal.) It seems plausible to me that Geno and co. are working to add one of the remaining 1,110 players to the roster for next season, and we just don't know about it yet. On April 20 in their respective years, none of Lou Lopez-Senechal, Kaitlyn Chen, Serah Williams, or Kayleigh Heckel had committed to UConn.

Maybe Geno stands "pat".... maybe he draws an "up card"... Skylar Forbes...
and maybe there is still a "down card" on the table. Patience, cricket.

"rest on its laurels:"? That's funny. They didn't play well. They were tough enough just had poor shooting performances the last couple of games. Next year they will be hungrier and more experienced. They are adding arguably the best post in the Freshman class and will use her wisely. They don't need to have her be a team leader yet just a BIG extra piece in the middle. She's going to have an impact on our season.

Minnesota had 3 open spots for transfers and got 3 solid Power 4 starters (we lose two starters and our first two off the bench). After a really fun Sweet 16 run this season I’m already excited seeing next season’s version of the Gophers! Then there’s our 4 incoming freshman that includes the Wisconsin and Nebraska players of the year, and the #2 recruit in the state of MN who scored over 5,000 points in her high school career.
