I understand it, but I don't buy it. Her leaving prompted Close to bring in Kneepens in my opinion.

Who is to say she wouldn't have gotten more playing time this season had she stayed? Not to mention the mentorship from both Rice and Leger-Walker while on their way to a title?

She did well at UNC leading them to a sweet 16. Could be building off of that versus dealing with a rebuild with an entirely new roster. 🤷🏾‍♀️

A little like when Stephanie Watts transferred from Chapel Hill to U$C, only to transfer back after one year. At least she got degrees at both schools.

Playing time is earned in practice. And, you then have to produce in the actual games.

Crump started Texas' first game of the season and her first shot was a 3-pointer (made). That surprised a lot of Texas fans but it showed how much faith Vic had in her hard work and talent. She went on to start the next 4 games before getting injured and not returning to the court until early January.

Competing for minutes against other shooting guards and forwards (not including Center and PG as she can't play those positions), her 17.5 minutes per game trailed only Booker (32.5), Lee (31.7), and Carlton (19.4). She was also competing for minutes against senior forwards Ashton Judd and Teya Sidberry. Crump getting more minutes means taking away minutes from those players I listed. Plus, her foot injury probably had somewhat of an impact on how many minutes she played in order not to re-aggravate it.

Wish she'd never have gotten injured. Things could have turned out a lot different for her as she was averaging 24 minutes a game and 13 ppg prior to getting injured.

I would've just stuck with Richard (I'm assuming that she left because Kim was shopping around for an upgrade).

If not, I would've shelled out for McGill or gone after Kymora Johnson. LSU likely has no shortage of funds and McGill is a stud. I'm also not seeing a lot of options for McGill to be a starting PG and impact player on a top 10-15 team aside from LSU. Maybe Texas, Notre Dame for Florida, but I think McGill's worth the risk.

Jada Williams could work out fine but she doesn't have the best track record (3rd school in 4 years, previously de-committed from UCLA) and none of her teams have done well with her at PG.

LSU has too many alphas to manage. I expect more huddle skirmishes. I would be SHOCKED if this chemistry produces the intended outcome.

The ACC has more speed/athleticism at guard than the Big Ten. She didn't look like she belonged on the floor for an ACC team, especially not one of the caliber of Syracuse. She looked like someone who would struggle to get time for Boston College.

I think getting injured was her downfall, she was in a great spot to be a major contributor the full season. To be honest I never understood why Judd got minutes over Crump. On offense Judd did nothing for Texas in big games.

@Baller29 it looks like I was wrong with this theory, apparently Richard leaving caused Kim to look for a new PG


So it makes sense to go after Williams if there isn't a suitable backup option, but I probably would've pushed hard for McGill first.

McGill is asking teams for 1.5 million dollars and Kymora is likely headed to SC. I do think that’s why mulkey jumped on Jada Williams so quick.

Richard left after one school offered a lucrative NIL deal worth over 400K. LSU set up the visit with Jada Williams later that day and signed her to get a average pg with experience.

And this info is coming from someone who works in the lsu wbb program. The goal this offseason was to add depth and strengthen the front court but lost out on two players because of money. LSU has money but not as much as what people think

I think Jada Williams will be fine if she focuses being a passer and the offense revolves around Mikaylah and Fulwiley imo. The bigger need is their front court. They got enough guard talent to compete with most but they lack in the front court, that has set them back from the final four teams imo

Well, Ashton Judd hurt her kneecap right before the start of the season; she played well for Texas in Canada during their summer games there. So, there was another player who spent a lot of the season trying to come back from inury.

I think Judd earned Vic's trust more than Crump did on the defensive end. So, those were probalby situational subs with a specific purpose.

I hope your right. We need a sharp shooter and a another big athletic center. These teams are getting bigger and quicker every year. I don't think we can win it all with what we have so far. We have a very good team but i think we need a couple of pieces more.

She's going to struggle in the BIG10 then. Guard play is more athletic than you're giving the conference credit for.

Uconn has some needs and wants but the fix is not that easy IMO. We probably can't justify making any portal addition one of the highest paid players on the team. I think the greatest need is upfront and more specifically a 4, but any potential transfer can see a top recruit at the 5 (Olivia), the best player in the country at the 4 in Sarah, and one of the best freshmen in the country in Blanca at the 3.

So we are pretty much looking for the best big we can get that is ok with not starting. That limits the number of possibilities substantially. In the backcourt we don't have superstars, but tremendous depth of pretty good players. A very high floor to get even backup minutes. The best chance for a big difference maker IMO is a 4 that can earn not just Sarah's backup minutes, but reduce Sarah's need at the 5, and allow her to play quite a bit at the 3, and Blanca some at the 2. Someone who could start and star on 95% of the teams who could be happy with 15-20 significant minutes on a true contender.

That is not for everyone, but I think we can at a minimum get a better backup 4 than Ayanna was, and hopefully a much better player that allows more traditional and bigger lineups at least some of the time.

That's YOUR opinion. I don't think she'll have the same struggles athletically in the Big Ten as she would in the ACC. I say that as someone who actually watches/follows both leagues and has actual knowledge on the actual player, Camdyn Nelson.

Close and staff went hard to get Kneepkens as soon as Gianna entered the transfer portal and would have done so even if Aarnisalo had remained at UCLA .
