Nice pickup for Kellie Harper.
Definitely. I was imagining good things in the future for Mathurin here in Ann Arbor. Hope she'll be happy & a good fit at Mizzou.

I’ve been thinking about the X post @Iluvacc2 shared and @visitingcock’s response, and I’m realizing I may not fully understand the transfer portal rules. Maybe someone here can clarify.Funny that TCU and their coach were busy that weekend with their own Sweet 16 (and further to the E8) in another state.
But don’t let the facts get in the way of a good conspiracy story.
TCU’s recent history shows that it is an excellent program for players to transfer to both resurrect their college careers and play in the elite 8. It would not surprise me if mark Campbell is the. First and early contact for many players wanting to transfer.I’ve been thinking about the X post @Iluvacc2 shared and @visitingcock’s response, and I’m realizing I may not fully understand the transfer portal rules. My understanding is that, for a standard transfer — not a grad transfer or a coaching-change situation — no one acting on behalf of a new school (coach, booster, collective, etc.) is supposed to have contact with a player or her representatives about transferring until the player is officially in the portal. Is that right?
If so, then in theory, no one at Ole Miss could have been in contact with Talaysia Cooper or her representatives before Monday, yet she was committed there by Wednesday morning. And with Lara Somfai, same basic question: no contact with TCU until Monday, then committed by Wednesday?
Maybe I’m missing an exception, but if I’m understanding the rule correctly, it seems hard to believe it isn’t being broken in at least some cases. Unless, in some situations, the player already knows what she wants financially and is willing to commit quickly to the first school that meets it.
Am I off base here?
Also wondering if players are less concerned with the campus, surrounding area, etc, and more focused on what will NIL bring now, and what it will create for them later?TCU’s recent history shows that it is an excellent program for players to transfer to both resurrect their college careers and play in the elite 8. Monday contact and WEDNESDAY offer and. Acceptance would be unsurprising to me especially for a player who enters the portal with a “do not contact” - indicating that she has a strong idea of where she wants to end up
Yes, and mom Molly played hoop.@nwhoopfan - this has an alumni twist to this too if my memory is correct. Isn't her dad Brock Huard, played in the NFL?
Thanks for confirming. Just a random fact that popped into my head. 😁Yes, and mom Molly played hoop.
And her cousin Brooke (Damon's daughter) was on the UW volleyball team at one point, but maybe not there now? Thanks for confirming. Just a random fact that popped into my head. 😁
Wow. That's 3 for TCU already? I don't think Geno's even had his coffee yet!
Like last year Geno and his staff will be a day late and a dollar short in getting critical help for next year. They think that players will just flock to the name and it doesn’t happen in this NIL era. I’ll plan on waiting until late in the cycle to see what table scraps they bring inIt always appears that way since UConn operates under the radar. I am sure Geno and his staff are locked in. They have certainly delivered in the past.
Uconn definitely has numbers in the backcourt. KK, K9, Kelis at the point; Shade and Allie at the off-guard; Jovana may be a combo guard (saw recently that she is 5'9.5", that is good). Great group. Maybe Blanca and Morgan see some action there as well.
Maybe a Jordan Lee, a Zam Jones, or a Kymora Johnson would be an improvement, but would any of them want to throw themselves into what is already a stellar group? My hope - Jovana exceeds expectations. She seems quick and can shoot lights out. Also - Shade bounces back from a not so good shooting year and Allie improves her game even more.
What about the front court? I think we need to add somebody here, especially given the departures of Ayanna and Ice. Morgan is a question mark health-wise (and she is arguably a guard anyhow), Gandy may still not be ready to compete in the games that matter, and while Olivia will be a cornerstone for years to come, it is rare that a first year comes in ready to star at the five. On my depth chart, I don't have a backup four.
So assuming Geno and staff are seeing what I am seeing, getting a four/five in the portal or from Europe seems essential.
The names I would be looking at:
Skylar Forbes
Nunu Agara
Addy Brown
Justice Carlton
Carys Baker
UConn got their #1 transfer choice last year in Serah Williams. I realize she did not become 'a star', but she was the top choice. She also did start 38 games.Like last year Geno and his staff will be a day late and a dollar short in getting critical help for next year.
Just because we haven't heard anything regarding UConn and the portal doesn't mean that they aren't doing their recruiting work........have you considered the idea that Geno is only interested in two or three players max from the portal and that those players have plenty of other offers that might guarantee them more playing time and NIL money? If UConn can get the player they want, great, if not, they still will field an extremely competitive team for next season....Like last year Geno and his staff will be a day late and a dollar short in getting critical help for next year.
