I know he doesn’t score a lot but Heaslip’s speed is a great fit next to Wood IMO. I’ve been wondering for weeks why they don’t put those two together and last nights goal is a good example of how it could work. Wood should be the trailer in position to score instead of trying to lead a rush down the ice.

As far as Haider goes - he wasn’t good last night but neither was our defense. Unless Cav is gonna fix the defense, we need Sergeev’s upside to give us a chance - but considering how conservative Cav is, I’m assuming he really wants for Haider to be the answer since he’s steadier in theory.

The only Caveat (pun intended) to that is that he was also recruiter by Joe Pereira too who along with Cavs met him and his in British Columbia in person where other staffs used Zoom instead. Pure speculation but it wouldn’t surprise me if Wood found a way to BU either.

Certainly if he transfers I do hope it would be out of the conference, but he really hasn’t developed in the 1.5+ seasons, and maybe even regressed a bit.
Why did Pereira go to BU? I’m simply assuming, money? I’ve read his recruiting prowess many times on here and how important of a loss he was to the staff…was there any way to have kept him? I really have no idea, but I know I see his name mentioned a lot that’s why I ask.

Former BU captain, won a national championship there, BU is a top program, and BU can get the high end recruits UConn cannot

I like the Tattle, Fraser, Muldowney line. It’s just that Tattle needs to bury some of his chances more often. He’s not really a scorer. Muldowney will eventually figure it out. He has a chance to become a solid player

Joe Pereira went to BU in part because it is his alma mater like what was said.

Not really a rival. Cav needs to look at himself in the mirror, not sure he can get us over the hump.
Trouble is Cavanaugh is not looking in any mirror. With a top end D1 HC contract and marginal performance, he's keeping his head down...

Right but it was a lateral move also. I believe Cav had to fight to get the raise he did, and due to that fact there was no budging possibly on assistant coach raises? I'm speculating on that second part but wouldn't be shocked at all if money was a part of it.

When you're playing against a better team that has beaten you consistently - many times in close games - you have to go with the goalie who has the potential to steal you the W.
Sergeev was the no brainer pick.
I'd like to think there are discussions within the coaching staff on who to play. The idea that the majority of coaches on tbe staff wanted Haider is odd.
Either they are a bunch of yes men or there was disagreement and Cav went with his gut.

Is the tournament going to be in the XL moving forward?
Background story from earlier in the week:

“The schools are in the second year of a four-year agreement to rotate hosting duties between the four programs. Quinnipiac went first followed by UConn this year, while Sacred Heart will take the baton in 2025 before Yale finishes the cycle in 2026.”

I don’t know if there were as many as the Maine game. That was a lot of people but it was a very good size crowd. I guessed around 7000 I thought maybe the 3rd or 4th largest I’ve seen. And fun in that you could tell fans from both sides really wanted that game. Unlike some games the lower bowl seemed to have ver few empty seats, as well. Add in 2 bands. Very cool feel. You won’t get that feel in an on-campus arena nor will you get that size crowd obviously.
