Yes, football is the 80 in the 80-20 rule in conference realignment, but UConn's basketball brand is not only a very successful blue blood, but it has some mass appeal in the country.Summary of the most popular teams/players by state during 2024. Pretty entertaining looking over the maps (though seeing Caitlin Clark sweep the U.S. AND Canada and Bueckers couldn't even win CT is a bit of a bummer). Also interesting seeing where the UConn men were #1 besides the NE.

As long as UConn can continue to build and improve their football (more NIL for better players), the front door to a P4 invite will eventually open. This starts with the Fenway Bowl. A good large and loud contingent of UConn fans at Fenway along with a win over North Carolina will go a long way toward helping UConn's P4 aspirations especially with the game on regular ESPN. We all know it won't seal the deal, but it would help.
