Funny.I remember back in the 70's, people only went to the Cayman's for money laundering.

Those are Men's teams. This is the first year (inaugural) with Women's teams.I'm not sure why it's being called the inaugural Cayman Islands Classic when it began being held in 2017.
It's probably because it's no longer being sponsored by the Mountain West Conference as it was before since no Mountain West team appears to be playing in it next year.
That was previously a requirement.
Wikipedia shows how the bracketing works and the results of previous Cayman Islands Classics.
LSU played in the Cayman Islands Classic last year.

Thank you. Those are Men's teams. This is the first year (inaugural) with Women's teams.
That whole thing is weird to me. Surely ESPN would love the chance at having an additional UConn game on its airwaves? Never mind that this particular tournament would also have the defending national champs. They're dipping their toes into putting WCBB on their national channels, but then totally ignore a tournament with a bunch of huge college basketball name brands like this?
That's a pretty great week of basketball.Cayman Islands Classic

It's crazy to me that Flo, whom I've never heard of outside of this board because they cover these tournaments, has deeper pockets than ESPN. How many subscribers does Flo have? If, for example, UConn and LSU meet in the final game, that's the type of matchup that could get close to a million viewers and blows my mind that there's no way to watch it other than to subscribe to some random low production value feed.ESPN would love to have it. The organizers charge an insane rate. Flo pays it because it gets them subscriptions.
Ugh. That would suck because they probably do too!And I am guessing that FloSports will have the broadcast rights.![]()
Unfortunately the tournament only runs two days so each team only plays two games. I’d like to see the tournament organizers put LSU, UConn, UCLA and VaTech in one grouping but I very much doubt that will happen. UConn and UCLA played at a neutral site in December 2021 so it wouldn‘t surprise if they don’t get grouped. UConn and LSU together would garner the most interest with UCLA and VPI in the other group.2 days...means 2 games? Maybe 2 four team brackets....wind up with 2 winners?
Maybe either LSU or Va. Tech against UConn in our bracket finals...or UCLA?
I would think each bracket would have 2 elite teams....with a relatively easier first game for
the 4 elite teams.
Sure hope it's on TV with a widely used channel.
It probably is cheaper, but right now the tickets are only available with the 'package deal' and it is conceivable that they will sell 2000 all access packages.I’m all in on this one. Not only do I get to see UConn, but also my local favorite team UVA. Plus my grandson graduated from VT, so I follow them too.
Anyone know if it’s cheaper to book hotels on your own?
It makes sense if they’re combining a business and pleasure trip.Geez, NIL and now Cayman Islands??? What's WCBB coming to?

Yes, it's being redone now.Rum point is one of my favorite places in the world.
Thanks. Is the 2000 the UConn allocation or everybodys? It probably is cheaper, but right now the tickets are only available with the 'package deal' and it is conceivable that they will sell 2000 all access packages.
Kim is taking a chance here scheduling real OOC games. Yikes!
UConn and LSU will NOT be in the same bracket. We all know she’s dodging UConn here. No chance she allows that matchup until March.
So it's not a real tournament. Just a couple of random games with no meaning other than we outsourced finding a couple of easy games to Coach P.UConn and LSU will NOT be in the same bracket.
It is the venue capacity. So a small arena. No idea how popular this will be, but with 8 sets of fans for the women and probably some folks coming for the men and staying for the women ... 250 fans from each school would fill the arena. And beside the beach, bars, and basketball there isn't a whole lot else to do in the Caymans.Thanks. Is the 2000 the UConn allocation or everybodys?

Me too, just saying people with tickets to the games are probably going to use them, even if their team is not playing - always nice to take a small break from the sun and holding up the bar!
