2021 Coaching Carousel picking up riders…

OC???
makes a ton of sense, even from a financial standpoint.... have Paul Petrino and Mora ever cross paths? If they click, might be a win all around...

Another guy I kinda like for OC (potentially), or as just a QB coach, is Andrew Breiner.. Yeah, I know, a UConn retread.. but can't deny he's had some success... plus he's probably available once the Butch Davis show is over at FIU after their final game this season

I don't buy the Slater scoop. Sounds like click bait. Kiffin isn't going to Miami.

.-.
I usually don't take this view, but FIU should probably shut it down at this point.
It kind of sounds like they are already trying to....some of the stuff you read about what is going on sure makes it sound like they don't wanna play at this level. Add in the conference situation and it's not looking like they care much.

However, like someone else said in this thread, they have a chunk of exit money coming their way and then after that, who knows what the CFB landscape even looks like.

.-.
Fla tied late with Mizzou.
Instead of win probability, ESPN should have a fire probability on Mullen.

Kiffin will go wherever he can get the most money … unless he thinks he has a shot at Manning, in which case he will stay.

But otherwise, the south Florida talent is hard to pass up.

Mullen is a great example of what happens when you have a coach who doesn't recruit well...and doesn't hire the right assistants....which is probably linked.

It's been a mystery to me why a five star QB hasn't committed to the gators since Mullen has been there. He is known as a quarterback whisperer..yet he can't get the top QBs to play for him.

It will be interesting if he survives...his buyout is like $20mm. But Florida has the money.

Mullen’s buyout is $12m…

I agree with a lot of your points, but are there better coaches available than Mullen? Do you think Texas would like to take a mulligan for firing Herman?

Bummer for Florida that Jacksonville has actually won a few games.

I like Mullen...I think he is a great offensive mind. But..he is failing in recruiting. There is no excuse in Florida...amazing resources...fertile recruiting area....yet year after year he gets outrecruited by Alabama, Georgia and LSU and depending on the year...other SEC schools. Top 10 isn't good enough...he needs to be top 3 in recruiting. This year he is getting killed in recruiting. I think they are 25th ( @huskymedic will correct me ;))

But....to your point....who would be better? I think Kiffin would be better...but that's about it. If not Kiffin...a good plan is to keep Mullen and hire assistants who are recruiting specialists...a Mike Locksley type. Maybe bringing back Charlie Strong as DC would help.

But if they lose to FSU next week..I don't know if he can survive. It feels like this team has quit on Mullen. I don't think Texas quit on Herman...I still think that was a bad move.

2 months ago who had Mike Norvell as the top coach in FL?
It's not a high bar these days. Mullen is a weirdo, but I don't understand what has happened there. Diaz has always been an idiot and really proved it by handing their game away to FSU. Diaz may end up with an 8 win season, which would be sort of amazing considering his ineptitude. Injuries actually helped the guy by forcing him to play more talented young players, especially at QB.

-> Mullen finished with a 34-15 record at UF after four seasons at the helm.

During his tenure at Florida, Mullen won 21 SEC games and led the Gators to three New Year Six Bowls and the SEC Championship Game in 2020.

The Gators are 5-6 (2-6 SEC) in 2021. <-
