Gillespie was picked POY and, it makes no sense to me, they leave him off the "first team." So there are really 6 guys on the first team.

Yeah the Big East doesn't include the POY on the first team for some reason. Better than the Pac 12's 10 person 1st team

I am guessing the coaches don't vote for their own team, in which case the vote for us would have come from Jay Wright. Similiar deal in the women's poll, where only one coach picked a team other than UConn (DePaul).

Didn't even notice that... just figured one of the second-team picks was Gillespie. It makes more sense now.

Kind of crazy to think that our team is so in flux that one of the guys picked for 2nd-team might now even play that much. I mean he probably, but if Jackson and Hawkins are as good as Hurley suggests, Rese might see a big drop in minutes. I still think he's a 25mpg a night kind of guy though.

I dislike the fact that they can name a first team of 4 guards and a forward. It's nonsense. Name an actual first team, not the five guys you think are best. Sanogo is the best 5 in the league and deserves to be on the first team.

I tend to be in the camp of hoping Tyrese dribbled and shot a tennis ball all summer to improve his touch and plays a lot of minutes. He's a beast. Tyrese is our enforcer, our reliable rebounder, a multidimensional defender and he already carries us in games from time to time. I'm hoping for a leap up from Tyrese rather than hoping others take his minutes.
