CHRISTOPHER FORTIN WILL PLAY FOR THE UNIVERSITY OF CONNECTICUT HUSKIES
by Eric Veilleux

Offensive lineman Christopher Fortin announced on 103.5 this morning that he will continue his career with the University of Connecticut Huskies once the next season is over. The colossus now 6'5 and 270 lbs will become the first former Patriots of Polyvalente Bélanger of St. Martin to play in the best division of the NCAA.

Present at the Huskies camp to fight with other hopes two weeks ago, the tackle has impressed the staff of the team thanks to his speed and his footwork. The head coach invited the Condors athlete into his office after the session to immediately give him the chance to join Uconn. The young man of Saint-René will not have to pay for his studies, his lodging and his food for the whole of his school stay. He will be able to focus on training and playing at Rentschler Field, a stadium with more than 40,000 seats.

Fortin also participated in camps in Syracuse and Buffalo. In fact, the Buffalo Bulls team was particularly interested in getting their hands on the local athlete. She was also willing to offer the Beauceron a full scholarship to convince him to enlist.

The gold medalist at the U19 World Championship will complete his collegiate stint in Saint-Georges with a final season with the Condors this fall. The opening game will be held on August 31, in the evening, while the Beaucerons will be visited by the Lynx of Édouard-Montpetit Cégep.

We have had some great linemen from Canada- led by Moe Petrus. Congrats to Christopher!!

Loved this from the article:

Buffalo is a she. What does that make Cuse?

So, that's 3 commits since the weekend when news broke UConn was leaving AAC and football had no home going forward?

I'm not a conspiracy theorists, and not a everything comes out rainbows, but these commits have to be being told something concrete to commit to UConn, correct?

I think the Quebec thing has MOmentum. We should get at least a handful; maybe more.

Earlier … in the whining phase … I said we would have 7-9 by September. After good camps. I think our camps are run as well as they ever have been - great participation by lots of regional coaching staffs - and we could be 12 or so.

Then. All the Quebec kids in CEGEP could come right after their season (they only play about 8 games). Definitely for the Spring semester of UCONN.

heard there were 40 canadians at camp last week.

makes sense - they would care least about conference affiliation.

I think they have had a couple bus loads at all the day camps so far. Its better than chasing those euro players. Canadians seem to lean more towards good coaches, driveable games, playing time and comfort level rather than just conference affiliation.

Welcome Dawg!

So...at what point do we become Southern Canada U?

Pretty close now. I could see us landing a RB and WR before its all done. Got to play O'Canada if that happens.

I don't know if YOU caught this in the article that was pasted with the Commitment:

" … The young man of Saint-René will not have to pay for his studies, his lodging and his food for the whole of his school stay."

This does not exist in Canada. Socialism MEANS they have less School expense. All the Universities are public - even notable McGill. But … there is no scholarship athletics. IF we play at a high level … a fun brand of ball … with our past history of success with Quebec & Ontario kids, we have a great chance with any of them - except some superstud with 10 offers +. NOTE: these kids are sized big. They are older. The CEGEP level and the RESQ are lines of 260-300 etc.

You can pull off a MAC/Indy schedule with this scheme. Just wasn’t going to play against Houston and UCF..

And they can play too... Look at all the players that went FBS and eventually ended up in the NFL...

Welcome to the Dog Pound, Christopher!!!

His town has a population of only 658 people and near another of 2400. It’s probably 30 minutes to the Maine border - which is meaningless because few people live way over there in Maine.

The point - Quebec & Greater Canada Football do a good job of finding & nurturing talent. He got filtered into a higher platform & plays a demanding schedule. For Cegep QC - and I think you find he is following the footsteps of an older brother who was a good footballer.

I believe the contemporary term would be "shim".

Very satisfying to see interest in a school that is dealing with so much change
Hats off to RE2, whatever he is relating to these young men is sinking in
WELCOME Christopher
