Anyone see this one coming? Not much on any sites except on 247 which said he offers from Bryant and CCSU. Interest from Illinois and Louisville. Hope he is a diamond in the rough!
Yeah- there was a good amount of twitter interconnect with the staff and Miles post signing day. The staff needed to find a WO QB and Miles fit the bill well. Played at a competitive program that took football seriously. At UConn he has a chance to play an important role- helping the rest of this team develop over the next four to five years.

It’s very important to have that extra QB in the system to facilitate practices and scrimmages. And ideally its someone reliable and competitive.

You can usually get a lot of miles out of a Forester. I had one of the earlier generations that blew a head gasket at 165k but I hear they have resolved that and you can comfortably get well into the 200s.

Was he technically recruited? I know you run into trouble in hoops if a player who had been recruited and is then a walk-on.

That's only if you give him scholarship aid without counting it towards your 85. Anyone can come to college and play sports without being counted as long as he doesn't get aid. Where the issue is is when you bring people in on recruiting visits, say they are a walk on and then give them money without it counting as an athletic scholarship.

Although it might only apply in the sports where you can give partial scholarships, hockey track and field baseball etc you can get need based aid and academic awards for sure . I think walk ons can get that as long as it is no more than they would qualify for as a “regular” student.

Daily Hampshire Gazette: Amherst’s Miles Foerster commits to UConn football

>>On Saturday, Foerster announced his commitment to UConn on Twitter. Even though he grew up in Amherst and wanted to play for UMass when he was younger, the Huskies were the better option to him. “The coaches showed me a lot of love. I’ve been to several of their camps. I like the vibe there. They have a great football history,” Foerster said. “They’re going through a rough patch right now, but I believe they’re on the way out of it, and I definitely want to be a part of it.”<<

>>He would’ve been one of eight in UMass’ quarterback room had he picked the Minutemen. “Compared to what it was at UMass, (UConn’s) not that crowded,” Foerster said. “I don’t mind competition. I prefer it. Only makes you better.” Seeking competition has shaped the past two years of Foerster’s life. He played three years at Amherst Regional before transferring to St. Thomas More and reclassifying to the class of 2019. The 6-foot-3, 205-pound quarterback won 11 games over his two seasons as the Chancellors’ starter.<<
