2019 UConn Commit #11 - Myles Bell (Ft Lauderdale Florida)

I think this year we'll finally reach a level of normalcy in regards to redshirting more freshmen... I don't think that'll be the case here. Great get, welcome!

Myles Bell is a 6-0 165lb DB from St. Thomas Aquinas in Ft Lauderdale Florida. Other offers from Akron, Bowling Green, Cincinnati, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Maryland, Mississippi State, Nebraska, NIU, Ohio University, Penn State, Purdue, Syracuse, USF, VaTech and WVA. Highlights

Dad (Grantis) played for WVA and had short stints w/ Washington Redskins and NJ Jets.

Wow...he picked us over some P5 schools? I like it. Now, wasn't Jasper Howard from St. Thomas Aquinas?

I believe Dwayne Difton was from there also.
Correct. Where did their QB from a couple years back end up? He was a UConn target. The school is obviously rich with talent and well coached year after year.

I knew we got players from there before. I thought Jasper was one...

Wondering, did UConn retire #6?
It’s given to a defensive captain or player exemplifies “play each play like it’s your last.” Eddie Hahn wore it this season.

Are we sure he isn't using the Chinese method of thinking and going off a 50 year plan?
Other than the fact China's government more or less operates with a 5-year strategic plan, perhaps ...

I'll disagree based on some of my job experiences, but I am indeed no Chinese expert. In the end it is small cookies and if I am wrong I am wrong. Either way....7 year plan in the world of NOW in America is a tough pill to swallow.

This is encouraging on two fronts for me. First, landing at least one key recruit against tough P5 competition (and DB is critical). Second, Randy realizing that he has to bring in some experienced, veteran players who can help us win a few games now. Would love to see more JUCO and grad transfers in the next period.

For UConn football, we can all mutually hope a 5-year strategy proves successful.

In a decade+ working with Chinese companies and living in China and Asia for a decade, undoubtedly many longer-established companies and some more creative generally have longer-term focuses than many of U.S. America's quarterly-profit driven public and even privately-held companies. 50 years? Bu shi (nope). Several years a la the Chinese socialists (aka CCP) which has religiously followed its' 5-year plans since 1953, closer to reality.

Thanks for the education from the financial world! :) I was looking more from my military/strategic background which I guess I should have said earlier. 5 year plans are good to have, just in our culture they are changed every 6-9 months. Lol.
