How many goals have they given up in the last minute of games the last two years? That is preventive and something you can work on with your players. Cavanaugh needs to do better. Poor performance against an Atlantic school.

My thoughts after the game:

Yan Kuznetsov, who will play almost the entire season at 17 years old, is a big time talent. He made a couple mistakes with the puck, including a bad turnover, but he will quickly become UConn’s best defenseman. Major talent.

Marc Gatcomb had a presence on the ice. He is much improved from last season.

The top two lines had 4 NHL draft picks and were clearly UConn’s best lines. They can and should be able to hang with anyone.

Kale Howarth was noticeably better than last year. Like Gatcomb, he is much improved.

This team should make some noise. It would be a big disappointment if they do not.
