Pre-Season Wooden Watch List Top 30 on ESPN this evening. FIVE Players from ND... Three from UCONN (Lou, Pheesa, CD), 2 each from Oregon, Baylor, Stanford and MSST.
Top-ranked Irish place 5 on Wooden watch list

I think ALL of Ireland is on the list!

5 for Notre Dame is 2 too many. I just don't see Mabrey and Young as one of the top 30 all around players in basketball

Pretty solid list. All 5 for ND deserve it. Last year UCONN had 5...not sure if other squads have had that many on a preseason team before.

The John R. Wooden Award is an award given annually to the most outstanding men's and women's college basketball players. The program consists of the men's and women's Player of the Year awards, the Legends of Coaching award and recognizes the All–America Teams.

The criteria for the women's Player of the Year award and All-American Team honors are similar to those for the men. For the women's award, the National Advisory Board consists of 12 members, and approximately 15 candidates are selected for the ballot. The voters are 250 sportswriters and sportscasters.

In contrast to the men's All-American Team, only five members are selected for the women's team. The Player of the Year receives a trophy, and her school receives a duplicate trophy and a scholarship grant.

Collier was named to the Katrina McClain Power Forward of the Year Award watch list, while Dangerfield was named to the Nancy Lieberman Point Guard of the Year Award Watch List. Samuelson has been named to the Ann Meyers Drysdale Shooting Guard of the Year Award watch list and was named a preseason AP All-American and the AAC’s preseason Player of the Year. "

Do all those listed on the Wooden Watch list get a Timex with a picture of John on the face, or is that just a reward for the winner?

I actually think Young is their most talented player. But she plays with 4 Srs. that can score.

I also have no problem with the list. So what? There aren't 30 players capable of winning the award in WBB same as there aren't 64 NCAA tournament caliber teams in WBB.
