2018 UConn Commit #24 - Dante Black (Snellville Georgia)

couple of observations based off his HUDL tape:

good acceleration once he puts foot in the ground
quick feet in the hole
glides like Jordan Todman
good combo of speed and power- with upside on each
Has good shiftiness

Coach Richardson has someone to work with.

Definitely runs like Todman. He doesn't have a lot of extra motion on his cuts. Wicked efficient runner, smooth and redirects off of contact nicely. He is football fast and keeps the gap just enough to get to the goal line. Really good judging angles and relative distance to close with defenders. Lots to like here. If he gets some early confidence, he could be a really good one.

Huge pickup. Him and Gillespie complement each other nicely. Grab another OL and the class looks good compared to our recent standards

Don't sell this class short, if the QB is another Orlovsky (RE thinks he is that type of prospect) this class might stack up with any class we have had. A program changing class. The future is bright.

According to Rivals which unlike Scout, and 247 actually lists all of our recruits we now have the 82nd best class in the country, that's a big jump from the previous few years. Plus many of these guys are high upside under the radar types which in the end will probably rate out even higher. RE and staff getting it done!

Welcome

Yeah those bastards are 247 seem to going out of their way to neglect our recruits and commitment list. It only takes seconds to update it, but they refuse. We are now us outside the top 100. A lot of conf USA schools are way ahead of us. Of the current class I think Kevon Jones is the most underrated by far, with a small under appreciation for Travis Jones. Ugauk probably should be a 83 score if 247 took the time to look at Canadians.

Overall Rivals is covering us best. And their rating system is a little more balanced.

I hear you but hopefully by the time this class are sophomores/juniors (depending on red shirts) everyone will take notice - this has happened to RE and UConn before.

The Edsall style RBs will be greatly appreciated after lack of impact runners under Pasqualoni, but especially under Diaco. Mensah and the recruits this year are much needed steps in combining size and speed at the RB position. It will no longer be a choice between speed with no size (Newsome) and size with no speed (Hopkins, Johnson and others). The best RB UConn has had since Todman was McCombs who was also an Edsall recruit.

I still have hope for Hopkins

Not sure I see the Todman comparisons as Todman was shiftier and changed directions more, and was one of the 3 or 4 fastest players in the history of the program. Black looks to be more of a downhill runner. Decent acceleration, top end speed looks very good. He spent a good portion of his highlight video outrunning defensive backs against what looked like pretty high level competition.
