2018 UConn Commit #14 - Elijah Jeffreys (Somerville MA)

Wonder if this kid camped with us. It would be great to hear that the staff got to watch him in person.

Looking at his size and build, TE was the first thing that came to my mind. Add 40 lbs and you'll have a guy that no safety is going to want to cut down on a seam route.

A classic NE recruit. He is playing qb in high school as he is the best athlete and there is no prototype qb at the school. Put him in a decent size school down south or in PA or NJ and there would be another talented qb and Jefferys would be specializing his skills as a 6'4" wr with great speed. The odds of him seeing the field as a qb are very slim, but he could blossom into a true wr weapon. He may have been a solid 3-star wr is a different system. What Edsall has done with the wr position with recruits and transfers has been very refreshing. Lots of speed and skill.

At that size he could be a WR, DB, or LB in our system (at least what the system is in my mind having never actually seen it).

I see enough there to build a good college QB. Arm looks fine. Tweak the mechanics and help him with anticipation...and you have a 6'4" weapon of mass destruction.

It will be interesting to see if he has a promise at QB or is trusting the staff to find a spot for him. I see a big WR rather than a TE. He's not going to carry 250 pounds, but 215 with speed makes him a perfect modern outside threat.
