2018 UConn Commit #13: Peter Rooney (Atlanta Georgia)

That basketball profile said he weighed 215. Pretty big gap to 285. Even to 250.

Why all the debate about the weight. He probably won't play for us for at least 2 years. The S&C staff will have him at the right weight when the time is right. I'm more concerned about frame and feet.

The last record I found of Rooney playing aau hoops for Georgia United Elite was as a 9th grader. There is nothing in the basketball profile that indicates the year it was posted. If he weighed 215 as a 9th grade student there is no issue.

6'6 and 215, he'd be a twig. The 250-260 range I could definitely see from the tape. Regardless, and not that you're saying anything contrary, I'd rather have an athletic guy who has to put on muscle than a big guy who doesn't have the athletic ability.

Thought the initial hiring of Edsel was because of his inroads in ga

not necessarily because of but I know his time at GT was a huge plus for the admin.

He's a big dude. 250 easy. And very athletic. All of the best linemen that went through this program started out underweight for a lineman, athletic and added the necessary pounds and technique to produce 2000 yard rushers and successful offenses. Of course when I talk about these players, I mean prior to 2011. But now things are back to that same recruit mold.

>>"I loved the campus and the coaches, and the academics are great as well. I loved the stadium when I visited and the OL coach has been everywhere. He is really wise, I also loved the facilities as well.”<<

Will Beatty came in at 250 and Zach Hurd was 260. You can put on weight, but you cant teach length, speed, and agility.

I like recruiting the OL this way. Also like guys that wrestle, due to how well they use leverage.
