2019-19 Storybook ending:
-New coach comes in to disastrous situation complete with depleted lineup and losing mentality developed over last three years.
-Two season ending injuries, plus best player out for eight games and McDonalds's AA lead guard goes down twice for total of six games.
-Team shows tremendous heart and fight all year and wins first road game in season finale, setting up post season run.
-Team wins four games in four days in AAC tournament to qualify for NCAA tournament, placed in play-in round in Dayton as a 14 seed in the field of 68.
-Goes on to outdo historic 2011 National Championship post season record of 11 straight wins by winning final 12 games (last game of regular season, 4 games in AAC tournament, and 7 games in NCAA tournament), defeating Syracuse in the championship game, to secure 5th National Championship.
-Fans buy over 400 hunnid thousand UConn Five/Olander Two/Boeheim One t-shirts at Third Dual National Championship Parade in Hartford.
-Syracuse, replaced in the ACC by UConn and, in a lame, desperate, attempt to regain credibility, hires Carmelo Anthony as head coach.
-Buddy Boeheim transfers to Tulane to be near his Mom and Dad who took the LSU job.

The only surprise here would be that a school hired a husband and wife team to coach basketball.

Yeah as far as I know if you win your conference tournament (unless a 16 seed) you don't participate in play-in round, those are the last 4 "at-large" teams plus the bottom 4 Conference winners which the AAC is not.

Details, schmetails, it was just a fun outline for a story that would overwhelm "Hoosiers". One of the members of the "Hoosiers" team lives in my community and said the team had lots more than 7 players, the assistant coach was not a drunk, and on and on, so why not a little hyperbole on this year's UConn team?

You are correct. The play-in game slots are for the lowest 4 automatic bid winners (always #16 seeds) and the lowest four at-large teams (normally around #12 or #13 seeds IIRC). If we win the AAC tourney, there is no play-in game.

You missed Kwintin Williams returning for the NCAA tourney averaging 24 pts, 6 asts, and 8 rebounds and being awarded Final Four MVP.

It seemed realistic until I read "defeating Syracuse in the championship game". Inconceivable that Syracuse can get there.
 
Not to rain on the parade, but considering what Boeheim went through, I won't be rooting as hard against the Orange as I usually do this postseason.
