Long Island/NYC seems like it will have a nice haul of quality recruits in 2017.

Seems weird offering an out of state guy with these types of offers. does diaco know about BIG things happening behind the scenes? Or is he just delusional and wasting time?

The 2017 offer list sure seems to be targeting kids that UConn has never really targeted before. Who knows if something is up CR wise...but one thing is definitely sure...if you want that caliber of kid to commit to your program you need to take a shot and recruit them.

It is curious why we bother on some of these players. Maybe we are already there looking at other kids lower on the ladder or maybe we just trying to get our school known with the coaches in these leagues.

How much time and effort does it really take if they are in your normal recruiting footprint. Compare the offer lists under PP and where they committed to and compare the offer lists under Diaco and where they have committed to... we are chasing higher caliber kids across the board.

Who you associate with shapes who you are...

That's all good. There is also the philosophy to put your energy in to the best realistic kids from day one rather than shooting big and missing leaving insufficient effort for kid B. That said, if the staff has the energy and time to pursue everyone, then great...more power to them.

So to be a tad argumentative for a second... UConn should shy away from offering talented kids w/ multiple P5 offers that are a few years out from hitting campus and continue to concentrate on locking down potential diamonds in the rough?

Doesn't seem like a solid long term strategy to raise the competitive talent on the field. We all realize that some offers by high level P5 programs are already plan B, plan C and plan D kids on those programs boards and what may initially appear to be a reach is actually more realistic as time moves on.

Its not what I am saying at all. You are taking it to extremes. Do you I really need to outline a second philosophy? Its pretty simple, aim at 3 and 4 star kids rather than the 5 star kids from day 1. Secure more Eddie Hahns who signed on early. At the end of the day, I don't have a strong feeling on this at all. My comment was merely an observation. If the staff feels it can yield dividends on its time invested pursuing 5 star kids, then great.

PS - I really appreciate your effort on this board...you are the main reason I visit, so thanks.

Kinda why I said I was being a "tad argumentative"- just a counter to your counter... no harm - no foul.

phenomenal size and catching ability, doesn't appear to be a burner though. He can really lay the wood too, wonder if Diaco would have him play DB

Great size for as a FS or SS.

We need to start selling that we are P5 bound, same way Rutgers sold the Big to recruits. Can't wait for it to happen, we need to be proactive, so we cn hit the ground running when it does.

love seeing all the early CT offers. This is a big year for the state and would like to lock up a good amount of the talent if we can. Need our current CT guys to peer recruit
