Maybe the kids will never learn, but it won't change, your best bet for playing at the next level for many kids is playing G5 so they rack up the playing time.

Great point, especially at this time of year E4...one that we know already...but hopefully one that kids will start realizing for themselves as they see the P5 relegating more and more quality kids (kids with pro potential) to the bench. I think it takes a coach who has "been there" already (had his players drafted into the league) to convince today's HS kids to go where they can play and get noticed for it. That's how they'll realize their potential and have a shot at the league...and that's what UConn's HCRE can do!
 
With all the 2018 offers going out via recruit postings on Twitter we must pretty much be done with 2017. The coaching staff already identified what they want and need by next week, which has to be a small group of kids now. I suspect a # of kids Edsall & Co are diamonds in the rough type, that most media outlets aren't really up on. Typical Edsall fashion.

- Sheffield RB
- Gardner-Russaw LB (or late push for another kid if Gardner says no this weekend)
- Vollmer OL
- Washington QB
- DL surprise
- OL surprise and/or transfer
- WR surprise (Hall?)

There are a few kids coming in for a visit this week and a few pending offers, so we are not done in 17.

I just think it is very smart to offer kids of the 18 class this week. It plays on emotion; this is the time of year when juniors are seeing their senior classmates getting ready to make their official commit and are making last minute visits.

Your scenario seems much closer to what is going on IMO, during this last week. The staff is still pursuing certain guys and making offers for this season....and next as well. RE is always organized, has a plan and our new coaches appear to be very involved as well. I'd be very surprised if we don't see additional commits leading into signing day.

And according to SouthPaw's handy scholarship chart we have 6 scholarships left assuming no one leaves the program this winter/spring. I could see us over signing by 2, there are always kids who leave.
 

Robert Holmes is a 6-5 330lb OL from Oxbridge Academy in West Palm Beach Florida. Robert was once an FAU commit. Other offers from Auburn, Miami, Temple and Georgia State. He made a visit to UConn under previous staff and was suppose to visit FAU this weekend.

Wasn't on Medic's Offer list and appears to be a flip from FAU.

Under the Radar...will probably show up tomorrow as another angle for Marc Whatshisnuts to call on the NCAA to investigate.

oh yeah! Thought we lost out on him after the coaching change... Big Hoss .. 6'4 330lbs coming in.. SOLID...

and btw, I think we're still in on Raheem Blackshear.. Gut feeling... We're in a different place than where Edsall left us the first time... MSU already has a ton of 3 and 4 star skill players on their squad.. Just a gut feeling we could possibly get a surprise in him on signing day...

Any idea who is coming for 2017 and 2018 classes? If Pindell is not here then I can gather he is Temple bound.

How many scholarships do we have left? We are getting close to the point were we will have to turn away talent. Who would have thought? If I see a kid on Medic's list say that they are coming to UCONN as a preferred walk-on, I'm nominating Edsall for Man of the Year.

Not a criticism by any stretch. You do Yeoman's work on this threat and it's sincerely appreciated. Certainly allows me to follow recruiting much closer than I would have typically.
