DePaul 19
Ohio State 20

USF 12!

UCONN #1 in offense, defense and SoS

They beat #12 (Massey) USF and #19 DePaul

Is the Maasey SOS based on whom you've played or whom you've beaten? How is Ohio State's SOS not #1 if they've played #1 and # 3?

Good question. Massey has Ohio State's SoS at #3. My guess is their SoS is not #1 because they have also played Belmont and Wagner (I have no idea who either one of those are - ??)

Belmont is in Nashville, while Wagner is on Staten Island.

Trash, it's who you have played and who you are scheduled to play.

Massey has two SOS. They rate the schedule you've played and your final schedule. While Ohio St did play UConn and USCe (#1 and #3 as per Massey), they also played Belmont and Wagner (#166 and #323).

The question of SOS has been debated a great deal on this board. Which is a stronger schedule, playing teams ranked #1, #2, #305 and #323 or playing teams ranked #89, #94, #181 and #192 ? The answer was generally thought to be, it depends on who is playing that schedule.
For a top 20 team, the first schedule presents more problems. 2 very difficult games and 2 easy wins. The second group would provide 4 very winnable games. For a team ranked #250, the first schedule would provide 2 losses and and 2 games they should win. The second group of games would provide 4 games they they would be an underdog in.

none of the rankings from coaches polls to massey and sagarin are very meaningful at this stage - too few games and meaningful games to prime the pumps with good data.

Something must be wrong here. Baylor has a 16 SOS
Seems a bit generous. They don't play anyone of import. Guess they want to pad their schedule. Is that a good strategy??
Seems a bit self defeating.

Any stat based measure of team performance doesn't mean a whole lot right now.

Still, it's infinitely more credible and legitimate than the ridiculous 6-months-before-the-tournament Crème bracketology junk. A really small sample size that despite its obvious limitations is at least performance based.

I suspect that Mulkey will have her team ready to play in March just like she always does.
