Bob most likely would have liked a few more inches in height thus the preferred w-o status. I am sure though the bow tie has him in gentlemen's status already. Welcome to the pack Chris.

Valley Regional’s Chris Jean-Pierre, Wilbur Cross’ Danae Rivers embodied both Athlete of the Year dimensions

>>Jean-Pierre’s high school career is defined by winning. As a sophomore basketball player, he started on Valley’s Class S state championship team. Only a dominant Sacred Heart-Waterbury squad, which knocked off the Warriors in the Class S final the past two seasons, kept Valley from a three-peat.

On the gridiron, Jean-Pierre helped Valley/Old Lyme end a streak of three semifinal losses in four years, thus ending Ansonia’s four-year stranglehold on the Class S championship in stunning fashion. His team trailed 14-0 in the fourth quarter when Jean-Pierre took over, engineering three scoring drives in the final 7 minutes to pull off the 21-20 victory. That included the winning 4-yard touchdown on fourth down with 22 seconds remaining, capping a perfect 13-0 season.

That was not his only heroic comeback. Valley trailed SMSA-Hartford by 20 points in the Class S basketball semifinal only to rally back in the fourth quarter and win 60-58. Jean-Pierre had 13 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists.

“When the lights get brighter, he rises to the occasion,” said Kevin Woods, Valley’s head basketball coach and football’s offensive coordinator. “We’ve had some good athletes over the years. But the level he played at in all sports makes him special.”

He also maintained a 3.0 grade-point average. Last weekend, he moved into his new residence at UConn, where he will join the football team as a preferred football walk-on. Jean-Pierre played nearly every position in high school, but expects to be used as a safety in Storrs.<<
