UCONN is current worth more than all the P5 schools in black. I suspect if we had TV payout from conferences like the B1G, we would be worth much more. We are worth about the same as BYU right now.

If "worth" means all that, someone should scoop up USF..

That valuation model is cashflow based so the biggest thing that drives the value is the number of home games that they had for the year that they're modeling...which I'm guessing is 2012. That's why there's a fair amount of movement amongst the teams from y/y - since the team can go from 6-8 home games in any given year.

Give us Northwestern, Indiana, Purdue or Illinois schedules and we'd be in the top 40 easy. My stomach is continuously turning at our reality... just hoping one day I get over it, but I know I won't. F * c k

By every blind test UConn should be in a P5 conference, especially if you start from scratch. My favorite is just the sheer number of people that don't have a public school to root for. Maine, New Hampshire, Mass., Vermont, RI, and Connecticut (also known as "New England" for those not familiar) is a crazy amount of television sets and acreage. I'm not saying someone in New Hampshire will root for UConn because they are the closest state school, but they may.

But that's not reality. Reality is that we're on the outside looking in, and at this point, the rooms are pretty full (and for some reason the guys that keeps farting (Wake, RU, BC, etc.) aren't being thrown out). I can't see how we're realistically going to break in any time soon. I tend to think our only shot is Diaco making us a Top 20 regular in football since that's all that seems to matter. Can he do that? I guess time will tell.

Actually, Tom Hanks confirmed this exact thing last night on the red carpet. During his first meeting with the real Capt. Phillips, the man was watching UConn BB game at his house in NH and invited Hanks to sit and join him when he walked into the room.

I hear ya. Even when the reality of an AAC with Tulsa/Tulane begins to set in, the prospect of Big12 expansion or P5 breaking off sets in.

I just can't even imagine how everything would be so different if the big east hadn't broken up or we were invited to the ACC.

How the heck is Syracuse football worth over $100 million? They have not been finished more than 2 games above .500 for two consecutive seasons since McNabb left 1998 and their facilities are currently behind most schools.

From the link, emphasis mine:

"Methods for estimating program revenues include applying Brewer’s proprietary system of procedures to adjust for multi-sport revenue sources and facility-specific revenues not pertaining to any one sport program. Cash flows reflect certain programs' efficiency in providing cash to its owner (host university)."

In other words, Syracuse football gets a boost in this valuation scheme from its Carrier Dome revenue for SU football, SU basketball, concerts, and other Dome special events.

UConn undoubtedly gets a similar boost because Rentschler regularly hosts well-attended USMNT soccer games (in spite of us not owning the facility per se).
