Scout is reporting that UConn offered him yesterday. I haven't heard it or seen it anywhere else. Everyone knows he's the 7'2" center with high potential.

Is he the one from Fairfield Prep? Heard he was really raw, but that was a year or so ago.

@KevinRDuffy: http://post original url/Ipcv1yrKjq says UConn has offered Fairfield Prep's 7-foot-2 Paschal Chukwu. You can never have enough 7-footers
@KevinRDuffy: Also worth keeping an eye on...Prep has one of the top freshman in the country in guard Ryan Murphy

This kid is going to be good. He already has lots of offers, so I was wondering why it took so long. 7'2", athletic, and he has a nice jump shot. Sure, he may be lost out there, but he is NOT behind where Thabeet was at a similar stage. You can't teach 7'2" and athletic.

I would have thought PChukwu had an offer by now too. I know ollie casts a wide net. The other one confusing is Owootah kid? Everyone seems to look at the kid, based off his coaches high praise, except us? Didn't he call us a dream school? UK and KU have watched, and now Seton Hall may grab him. Are we waiting on KYH or is this class done?

Owootah is trying to market himslef as a top talents saying all these schools are coming to see him. Also has Zags Blog trying to sell him. However, I may be wrong but have not seen the major D1 schoold offer him yet.

@KevinRDuffy: Prep's Ryan Murphy has talked with Ollie/UConn assistants. He said Missouri and Gonzaga have shown most interest

He's friends with that Zimmerman kid from Las Vegas that UConn offered. Ollie has been offering freshman apparently.

UConn doesn't have any interest in Owootoah.

Rhoderick Rhodes has done a just plain bizarre job of promoting that kid. The guy is going to cost himself some credibility if the kid isn't as good as advertised - and given that he has no offers, that seems to be the case.

UCLA, Kentucky, UConn, Arizona, North Carolina, Duke, Tennessee, Florida State, Baylor, Providence, Seton Hall, West Virginia, Villanova and God knows who else has been mentioned by Brandon Bender or Rhoderick Rhodes as being interested.

And, ahhhhh.....perhaps being 'mentored' by Brandon Bender is a red flag there. Every college coach is going to look sideways at that association given the past there.

Fixed it for you.;)

Who else has offered him besides Providence? This is a must get in my opinion.

Here Duffy's update update on both players today:

I don't think his high school coach realizes how this all works. You wait until the late spring of your senior year only if you have eligibility issues or if your early offers aren't high major. If you get bigtime offers, you don't sit around and wait beyond November for those plum offers to be taken by others, not unless you're a top 10 player.

Sheesh imagine that 7'2'' and he needs a jump shot. :)

Is Murphy originally from CT? I see dude plays on an AAU team all the way out in Cali...

cali. moved to westport. daddy has big time $. he was a big time local player somewhere in ct years ago.

I got a little bit of insight on paschal as you guys may know by now he is 7'2 and an absolute beast on the defensive side of the ball. I would have to say since I don't have any numbers that he averages at least 7 or so blocks per game and alters almost every shot that goes in the paint. Although he isn't really ready on the offensive side he does have a good jump shot and decent post moves. But he's got a whole year to develop. He also played soccer for fairfield prep the runner up in states this year so conditioning isn't in question haha. You can watch some game highlights on their YouTube channel fairfieldprep1
