Just saw that. Simple math would show that Joe L. believes UConn is ranked somewhere between 9-12 preseason. We'll see if the AP agrees. I think he's in the ballpark. My prediction is 12-20.

Picking winners for 2014 bracket

EAST REGION

Surprise: Stanford Cardinal
No one noticed because Johnny Dawkins' team was just 9-9 in the Pac-12, but on a per-possession basis the Cardinal were better than many of the league's NCAA tournament teams, including UCLA and Oregon, to name two. Dwight Powell has already announced that he'll return for his senior season, and Chasson Randle and most of the rest of the rotation will be back, as well.

Disappointment: Notre Dame Fighting Irish
The Irish are likely to get a high seed in 2014, with Jerian Grant, Eric Atkins and the surprisingly assertive Garrick Sherman all returning, and highly acclaimed freshman point guard Demetrius Jackson arriving. The worry with Mike Brey's team, however, will be on defense. In Big East play in 2013, Notre Dame opponents made almost half (49.9 percent) of their 2-point attempts. The Irish are vulnerable in the paint, and it will cost them.

Regional champ: Connecticut Huskies
I'll go with the No. 3 seed Huskies here in a mild surprise over higher seeds Duke and Ohio State. After being named the first American Athletic Conference Player of the Year, Shabazz Napier will lead an experienced UConn team to the Final Four. Kevin Ollie's men will get the job done Michigan-style, with multiple perimeter threats: Napier, Ryan Boatright and Omar Calhoun.

That'd be sick to be playing in the regional semis and regional final at MSG

Logo looks pretty good in Gasaway's article. First time I've seen it used outside of the announcement.

Interesting that the AAC has a 2, 3 and a 3 is this projection all above the top "Big East." Now I realize they are showing more depth and our projected 2 seed will be gone in another year, but that really doesn't look that bad. 4 teams in and 3 highly rated. I am not sure anyone would complain about that projected bracket for Uconn.

Hopefully one more AAC team will step up and make the field. 5 or half the teams is a very good representation for the conference.

Some must be torn... Positive press, but sort of hurts their whole 'ESPN' hates UConn angle.

In his chat wrap, he has us as #11 overall

Kind of but Kevin Ollie is liked in the media. If he becomes even more competent in his X & O's next year the Final4 prognostications could be correct. I don't see Duke as a #1 seed at all.

Funny that Lunardi totally forgot about the AAC in his "Rundown" of conference totals at the bottom. Still has the Big East getting 9 teams in LOL.

I mean I can't see us losing a game in this trash conference?? Do we go into the tourney 30-2 like Gonzaga did this year??

huh? Ucf beat us just two seasons ago. Memphis Cincy and Temple are all great teams. ECU and the other teams will get better.

And now looking at the article, he put us in the east lol.... NCAA hates Uconn. If we get in we are going out west. But that bracket region looks pathetic. La salle is the biggest scare there. Guy must like Uconn or something.

He has the totals that way becuase there's no actual new conference until 7/1

I'm really like Joe today :)

a three seed, in the East, with Dook the one seed and we advance

I can't write a better script
