I have to admit I LOVE seeing us involved with so many players, and on top of that, so many top kids. I'll admit I don't follow the recruiting as much as some on here, but I don't recall ever seeing us "in" with so many of them. I also don't recall seeing as many kids say "UCONN is in my top ___" or "UCONN is one of a few schools recruiting me the hardest".

This is not to say that JC and co. didn't bust their butts when it came to recruiting, it's just that as I think others have pointed out, Ollie is casting a very wide net, and given we "landed" Purvis and then Hamilton, the "perception" is that UCONN is still a top 5 or 10 destination for the elite players.

Add to that incredible style of KO, the fantastic new practice facility, and the terrific staff KO has assembled, and I can see us being a legit FF contender on a very frequent basis. I'm amazed that we are doing so well without resorting to recruiting for dollar$...

I agree. I also think that he is going after more high profile kids- sooooo- we here more about where they are thinking of "choosing" vs someone a little off the radar like Lamb who was ranked in the high 70s.

I am hoping KO is going for the "right kids"- if you can get a top 30 type player - in particular one whose stock is rising- you have to pull the trigger- those kids usually turn out to be pretty helpful.

Agreed he and the staff seem to be swinging at every pitch hoping to at least foul it off and stay alive with kids..........seem to have a hard working recruiting ethic like KO as a player.......

JC did a fantastic job but was getting older, this is a new young and energetic crew looking to prove themselves as here to stay...........great stuff!!

Glad we landed a couple already. Puts the skeptics to bed early on his recruiting technique.

I would be very happy with any of those guys

Actually, I remember the last few years when many top guys would throw UConn on their list...heck even when UConn hadn't even talked to them. It made them seem more 'legitimate' for lack of a better word. I would posit they felt it made them look good by being 'recruited' by a notoriously tough hard-nosed program/coach.

That said, these lists with UConn on them seem more real?

Really, one more of Hill, Oubre, Gant, Black, and Abu will send this over the top.

Yeah we need at least two. Seeing as Bazz, Boat (Even tho he's not an NBA player), and Daniels will be gone next year, along with Wolf, Giffey, and Olander, that's 6 schollies about to be opened up. 2014 season is a key reloading year, we need at least 4, 4+ star players to feel confident going forward. Luckily, we already have 2 before May 2013.

I will say Ollie has a huge set of balls. Coaches one year and goes after the big guns. Its not only confidence he possesses but he fears nothing and no one (i.e. other coaches). Along with that he is out there promoting our program his way and not JC's. I suspect not many, if any, rookie coaches would on day one go out after everyone competing with the co-elites. Especially coaches with no coaching experience.

Now if all of his players match his level of confidence, intensity, fearlessness, etc... then we will remain relevant and high powered for many many years. I think we saw a glimpse of it last season but in a couple of years it will be all his team (i.e. players) and I can't wait to see the complete buy-in from his squad. We have a special coach with a future so bright. Our administrators better take care of him in every way.

Love the enthusiasm, kit, but that's something you should probably keep to yourself. For future reference.

Why wouldn't he? NBA player five years ago, has Durant, Lebron, and half the NBA on speed dial, not to mention he is running the most successful program of the past 15 years. HS kids love that stuff. Plus, I can't recall anyone having anything but praise for KO as a BB mind and a person.

Now if we can only find a FB coach that does all that. What's Ray Lewis doing?

I was thinking about that and given all you said, that he's a proven winner in the NBA, that certainly gives him an advantage over K, Squid, CryinRoy, Self, and most of the other HC's in MCBB. I know he has inexperience as far as HC goes, but 5-10 years from now, I can see Ollie as one of the best. How nice would it be to see him equal JC's feat of 3 NC's?!!
