The official NCAA attendance numbers aren't out yet but the numbers from the UConn site are encouraging. Average per game attendance was 9,468, up more than 3%. An increase from last year and the first positive movement in years. I didn't look at the XL/Gampel split.

Posters that felt that the economy was the primary driver in the attendance drop may have been right. Monster home games with Baylor (16K+) and Syracuse? (14K+) didn't hurt.

I believe UConn will be 4th.

Tennessee - 2013-11993, 2012-14414 down 16.8%
Iowa State - 2013-9970, 2012-9805 up 1.6%
Louisville - 2013-9577, 2012-10670 down 10.2%
UConn - 2013-9468, 2012-9168 up 3.3%

It will be interesting to see how big of an attendance drop you guys will have in 2013-14. If memory serves me correct, all of your big games will be on the road next year except for Stanford.

Count me among those who think "big" games are a major factor. For most programs, there is also a "weekend" vs. "weekday" impact as to when the big games fall - that wouldn't be felt as much at UConn as we're talking "really big" games in that case.

Thats one of my complaints with WCBB and the ACC WCBB scheduling. Most of the big big games are on Monday night. Next season, I anticipate Duke having 3 big monday games..... vs UCONN, ND, and Maryland. Its not the best time slot for a fan to have a 7pm game on a Monday night.... especially if you are like me and live out of town. Wish these games could be on Saturday or Sundays.... but I know ESPN wants to showcase these games.. and Monday night is the best time slot to do so. I do remember a few UCONN-Duke matchups on Saturdays.... the 2003 game in Durham... and the 2004 matchup in Hartford. Concerning the ACC and attendance.. this year they started having more and more games on Thursday night instead of Friday nights. Its better for the student athletes to have the Thursday Sunday split, instead of the Friday/Sunday split in previous years. But it definitely hurts attendance.
