Wouldn't mind seeing Tammaro get a chance to play at 2B today. Alazaus is a lefty so Tammaro will start but I'd start him in both games. Always seems to do something good when he plays. Daniels struggling a bit maybe off until Tuesday would help. Seems like he's trying to not get behind in counts thus being aggressive early. But you risk widening the zone too much. He's cut down on the strikeouts but perhaps at the expense of seeing more quality pitches. So it's a balancing act. He'll be fine but maybe change it up with Tammaro. Small sample size but makes contact, gets on base, and can run.

I'm sure Daniels and Tammaro will continue to split time at 2B, plus get a little time spelling either Padilla and Freeberger when the situation calls for it. We'll see what happens when T.C. Simmons is ready to come back, at this point who knows when that will be.

Offense goes down 1-2-3 in the first.

Crowd sounds pretty energized for Xavier.

Leadoff solo shot for Xavier.

This could be a long game. Xavier with 3 straight hits to start the game, all hard contact.

4-0 Xavier now after a home run, still in the 1st. Xavier's batter just flipped his bat towards the UConn dugout. Not sure how dbmill handles these types of games as well as he does, but my patience is being tested.

Morton and Smith lead off with back to back doubles. 5-3 Xavier in the 3rd inning.

ALBINO RHINO TIES THE GAME UP WITH A BOMB! 5-5! We are now into the Xavier pen. That's all for the UConn offense despite some very hard contact (including a double by Broadhurst). Xavier has been excellent defensively this series much like we have. High level baseball.

Way to start it Korey Morton! Smitty, Huber… need you all in!!

Sully issues a leadoff walk in the bottom of the 3rd. Penders takes him out in favor of Coe.

Coe picks off the leadoff runner. Nice.

Solo shot for Xavier and they lead again 6-5. 6 home runs combined for both teams and we're not out of the 3rd inning.

Coe retires the next two hitters easily. 6-5 Xavier going to the 4th.

Nice rally. Xavier gets one back in the bottom of the inning though. Have to hold them here.

Can you imagine if LSU played in this park? They would go for 30

According to the Google machine, JO Christian field (UConn's home field from 1968 until a couple years ago) had outfield dimensions of 340 - 370 - 405 - 370 - 340. I'm not sure it those were the distances when it was built or after it was "expanded" in 1993, but those are decent numbers in this day of aluminum/composite bats. This field (and Georgetown's, among others) is a joke. True, a joke for both sides, but these are beer league softball scores. In my rapidly aging brain, I seem to recall that JO's left and right field were 330 back around 1970.
