As I’m watch this game, I can’t help thinking the lack of execution by Louisville on offense and the numerous breakdowns on defense are striking for a Jeff Walz coached team.
 
NC State couldn't hit the ocean if on a boat 50 yards from shore. 4 missed layups in a row. Louisville on a run. NC State, up by 7 at one time, now leads 36-35. 3:11 left 3Q.
 
Watching Evans in this game I'm most impressed by Evans' unwillingness to even try to create for others when her shot doesn't fall. Any old shot will do. Also her defensive skills are more matador than locksmith.

I think defense has been mostly OK. Offense is dysfunctional.

End of 3...Louisville finished the quarter on a 12-4 run. Dana Evans with 6 quick points. 43-40, Cards. Kiana Smith with 13 points now.

NC State will regret all of those missed opportunities right around the basket if they let this one slip away.
 
3:23 left...Louisville up 54-53. This game closing and looking like a battle between two heavyweights, trading blows.

Dana Evans up to 13 points now for Louisville. Cunane with 17 for NC State.

Walz tried to relive the Hailey Van Lith magic. and Evans misses a last second shot she could have made. Feel really ad for Evans. That is a tough one to swallow

No...but it was INTENSE. My heart was about to beat out of my chest.

I just knew when Evans released that last THREE that it would swish through the hoop.
 
Cuna needs is a good solid center, definitely one of the best in the country. Dislike Louisville and was rooting against them as I always do, but I felt bad and it broke my heart to see Evans fall to the floor in tears. She is usually very stoic win or lose.

Me too. There I was happy and elated...and she was devastated. I wanted to give her a hug.
