In NC, YouTube TV no longer carries the Fox Sports RSNs. Do any other YouTube TV subscribers have the same (non) service?

Game on! It's so odd to see a Duke coach clap, encourage and smile on the sidelines.

The Dookies shooting is bit like surrounding Durham, lots of Bricks but the fundementals already look better than past years and are keeping them in the game.

I am finding myself actually rooting for the BlueDevils...

I just found out that I am not able get the Louisville at Duke game due to a media blackout on the ESPN app. I do live in NC but not close to Durham. Hope that I have access to the Elon at NC State on ACCN on YouTube TV.

35-22 Louisville at the half.

Didn’t Duke put up a better fight last year?

Oh my...the last time I checked the score, Duke was down by 10. Did they run out of gas at the end?

Not Louisville's best effort tonight. Several unforced errors in the first half (nine turnovers before intermission) and generally bad work on the defensive boards - way too may putbacks for Duke. And virtually nothing from the bench.

That said, Evans was Evans, Van Lith played well but not great, and Cochran continued her strong inside play. She is a banger inside (Louisville hasn't had many of those in the Walz era) and has some really nice post moves.

Credit I think @SCspur with being extremely high on Olivia Cochran.

Totally agree. Cochran has largely flown under the radar so far despite some really solid production. I was surprised to see her in the starting lineup (I thought Dixon would nab it at the 5), but Walz clearly knows what he’s doing.

LOU 21 14 14 24 73
DUKE 12 10 14 13 49

Note that Louisville led 49-36 after three quarters, with Louisville only outscoring Duke by four points in quarters two and three.

Obviously, the fourth quarter led to a final margin of 24 points, but this was a competitive game after three quarters.

Against 20th ranked DePaul, Louisville scored 61 points ... in the first half!

However, I REALLY enjoyed the comments from Duke head coach Kara Lawson:
  • “I thought our group competed hard tonight, especially through the first three quarters. We just didn’t shoot it well. We got great looks I thought. We missed a ton of easy ones, layups and open threes, shots that we had been making. I also have to credit Louisville and what they did defensively. For us, 49 points is not going to win you many games. Needed to score a little bit more, certainly against a high-powered offense like them. That’s a part of it, you’re going to have nights like this, it just happens. But, I was proud of our group and how they competed.”
  • “We had a hard time scoring the whole night. Like I said, in the first quarter, missed a ton of layups, had four or five threes roll in and out. It’s a part of it, and I told our group after the game when you have nights like that you got to be able to play your defense at a really high level to give you a chance."

I really thought Coach K(ara) made great statements in her post-game press conference. Note how she first complimented the team about how hard they competed, discussed some of the issues the team had, credited Louisville, referenced something to work on, then closed with a note about she was proud of the team and their fight.

This is leadership. This is how you build and mold young women (and men) into becoming the best versions of themselves.

I posted this over in Triad's "when does it get real" thread but it bears repeating here as I replied to what Duke has for next year:
"..and Duke will have another season of Coach Lawson's system. Considering how poorly they shot from the onset, they looked good defensively to stay in the game for almost 3 quarters. I give kudos to them for finally having a structure and flow, albeit poor shooting. To me, this is a significant improvement over the last 3 years of JPM.

You really need to get a grip on this vendetta. It’s exceeded the bounds of the rational :D

At least when DePaul hosted a ranked team in their home gym they exhibited enough home court pride to play them down to the wire in a one possession game.

Well, DePaul is certainly rebuilding as well, having lost to graduation Stonewall and Campbell, who together shouldered a huge load for the Blue Demons last season, when they were set to host NCAA tournament games for the first time. DePaul also suffered a huge blow in the preseason when the Wisconsin transfer Courtney Fredrickson medically retired due to knee issues; she was expected to contribute greatly to their front court needs.
