Very questionable zone from the umpire that inning but the walks and hit by pitches from O’Donnell and Sullivan didn’t help

He is coming back if he isn't drafted.

Eligible players that don't get drafted are considered free agents, and occasionally are offered contracts and get signed by MLB organizations. With the MLB cutting back on number of minor league teams, I would consider this less likely to happen, but it is a possibility.

Nick Krauth was the last UConn player not to get drafted but got offered a contract to go pro, which he did after the shortened 2020 season.

Top 8th, UConn offense leaves a couple runners on base.

Bottom 8th, Garrett Coe comes in to pitch.

Coe and Kirby have had their names called quite a bit the last few weeks. Not watching the game, if the lineup is more right handed, I am surprised not to see Athim get the nod.

Top 9th, Smith with a 1 out rbi triple scoring Simmons who had reached base on an infield single. 8-2 UConn. Wild pitch brings in another run, 9-2 UConn.

Looks like we can go to Wang if we want.

I certainly wouldn't mind that, we'll see what happens. I wouldn't mind Quinn getting some mound action either.

Bottom 9th, Coe on the mound.

Referring to the other thread, I believe we have an 11-3 record against other New England schools with todays win over Bryant
Yes, I misspoke. I meant back to target in @ucjoet’s thread. 11-3 was his target #

Should we go at least 2-1 this weekend over Georgetown, a 2 seed should be a given. If not, the committee will betray its anti-northeastern bias. Imagine going 6-18 in ANY league (a la Texas A&M in softball) and getting an NCAA bid!

  • Ben Huber homered twice in the victory to take the team-lead in long balls with 11 on the season.
  • David Smith notched his fifth-straight multi-hit game with four hits. The UConn second baseman scored three runs and drove in a pair and finished a homer shy of the cycle.
  • Korey Morton and Huber both recorded three hits in the victory.
  • Cole Chudoba earned his third victory of the year with five innings of work. The right-hander retired the first 10 batters he faced and allowed two hits on the afternoon.
  • Jack Sullivan and Garrett Coe combined to throw four shutout frames out of the UConn bullpen. The duo allowed two hits and struck out five.

Chris Jones says Huber has another year of eligibility if he doesn't get drafted or go pro.
I was wondering why he wasn’t in senior day.

Another year and I can see Huber taking off as it took him a month or so to really adjust to the division 1 level.
