On January 11th, 2001...Kay Yow won her 600th game against Staley-coached Temple. In the post-game interview, I remember Staley remarking that she couldn't imagine coaching long enough to win 600 games! It won't be long before she reaches that mark herself.

Over under would be right at three seasons if things go to plan.

Yep, that was in Staley's first season as a head coach. She was still playing in the WNBA, and would continue there through the 2006 season. When she was first approached by the Temple AD about coaching and was asked if she saw herself as a coach she replied “no, not at all”. So I suspect she still had some trepidation at the time Temple played NC State. I doubt she has any of those today.....
