These stats are ridiculous. A multitude of low ERA pitchers, the SB numbers are insane, etc. I know their schedule is weak but it’s about what ours was last year and these numbers are truly eye-popping. Also they are 6-2 in Q1 games according to Warrennolan.com. Seems like they deserve more credit.

UConn baseball has not lost 2 games in a row all season. While the season is hardly over if that happens during this midweek, it would be nice feather in the resume cap for the post season to see that record continue. Still, baseball being baseball, you just never know what will happen.

.-.
Last year was at Elliott when Northeastern beat Uconn. Uconn got off to a big lead and Northeastern came back. Like Uconn, they have mixed in new guys who have made major contributions this season. They are the real deal. Beat BC, etc. Big game. I will be at Elliott tomorrow afternoon and post trip report after game. Should be a good one.

Eye-popping, indeed. Where to start on offense?
Team BA .313, with seven regulars hitting .312 or better. Opponents hitting just .240.
60 HR's (21 by opposition)
89/105 (85%) in Stolen Bases (3 attempts per game). Their opponents, however are 29/32 (91%), so expect a lot of movement on the bases.
299 runs scored (8.5 per game) vs. 149 (4.3) by opponents.

During a recent game broadcast, Chris Jones mention several New England regional teams that UConn baseball would like to play twice a year in the midweek. The teams are BC, Northeastern, Rhode Island, and Bryant. Also helps that all these schools are close by. Generally these teams are the better baseball squads in New England. Sometimes due to scheduling conflicts this will not happen in a particular season.

Arrived at Storrs. It’s windier than I expected and winds are sustained not gusty. Tough conditions. Will come down to who wants it more.

Chris Jones says the wind is blowing out to right field, expect a high scoring game.

Chris Jones says the baseball that is being used in college ball is like a golf ball these days, it just flies, according to a conversation he had with Coach Mac who has been talking about it with coaches with other teams.

Top 1st, after the 2 out 3 run homer, Northeastern puts runners on the corners. A ground out ends the inning, 3-0 Northeastern.

.-.
Bottom 1st, UConn offense with a scoreless inning after a leadoff single by Smith. 3-0 Northeastern.

Top 2nd, Elllisen hits the leadoff hitter. Next batter hits a 2 run homer, 5-0 Northeastern. Ellisen leaves 2 runners on base after the homer.

We'll see how long Ellisen goes in this game. Chris Jones talking about the need to preserve the bullpen for the game tomorrow against BC.

Top 4th, after a single, with 1 out a double that includes an error on Studley allows the run to come in, 7-2 Northeastern going to the bottom of the inning.

Chris Jones and company says the wind has really died down, it is not blowing like it was earlier in the game.
