Homecoming game for Kelsey Mitchell, who is from Cincinnati.

Surprisingly close early in 2Q. Ohio State with a 2-point lead.

Mavunga sat for much of 1Q with 2 fouls, but back on the court in 2Q.

Cincinnati is overmatched physically but battling well.

Cincy is looking pretty good, now down only one. For those who may have forgotten - former Husky Jamelle Elliott is Cincinnati's coach.

Game is on ESPN2

Cincinnati with a mini-run to close the lead back to 29-28. McGuff calls timeout.

The gym at St Ursuline Academy — Cincy's temporary "home court" while their arena is being renovated — is sold out for this one. Good environment.

JJ needs to have her team slow the pace. Cincy doesn't have the horses for a full game at this speed.

Cincinnati - wow - still down one with 2:40 left in the 2nd quarter.

The Bearcats are looking well coached. Cincy up one.

Not a smart play by Kelsey Mitchell. With the shot clock winding down, she dribbled around with no apparent purpose way outside the arc then heaved up a prayer that ended up being an air ball.

Lobo at half time. So pleasant.:)

UConn players commenting on Geno. Kia waiting to mess with Geno's hair. :D

Lobo says Geno has not changed (no mellowing)

Analyzing the best (traditional back to the basket) centers.

McCowan
Kalani Brown
Mercedes Russell
Megan Gustafson.

Impressed with Cincinnati. They are keeping their composure against Ohio State's full court pressure, showing (for the most part) some patience on offense, and looking for the extra pass. I thought this would be a blowout by now.

Nice halftime piece on Geno's march to 1,000. Brief interview clips from Napheesa, Lou, and Kia about how happy they are to be a part of this.

Also a nice halftime segment by Rebecca on the best "traditional" back-to-the-basket post players in the country, featuring McCowan, Kalani Brown, Russell, and Gustafson.

OSU was obviously told to be more aggressive but, oh boy, the fouls.

OSU is heating up from three, now up 47-40.

Calhoun hits a couple 3s and then Mitchell connects on one of her own to give OSU a 7-point lead.

Cincinnati has been playing zone defense and daring OSU to beat them from deep. OSU's cold shooting in the first half helped keep Cincy in the game. Not a good sign that Calhoun and Mitchell are heating up.

The intimacy of the gym makes for great video of the game. Cinn slipping behind. 47-40

Nice acting job by Linnae Harper.

Yeah, I'm rooting for JJ's team.

OSU just has too many great players to contain, is now up 53-44. Have to say, I'm impressed with Cincinnati's rebounding.

It's now OSU 60-48, with Reiser going to the free throw line for an and one.

OSU having trouble putting Cincy away. If Cincy could stop turning the ball over and make free throws, the game would be close.

Sierra Calhoun can't miss from the arc, now has 18 points, Mitchell with 24.

It's 69-56 at the end of the third quarter. OSU was definitely more aggressive than they'd been in the first half but it seems to me Cincy is gassed. The OSU press is having an effect.

.-.
OSU rebounding better which limits Cincy's second chance points. The Bearcats are clearly gassed.

Cincy had enough to stay with OSU for 20 minutes but that was about it. Still some good takeaways for them.

Actually, Cinci played them tough for 3 quarters. It was Q3 where OSU beat them by 12, and that was pretty much the final margin. Q's 1,2 and 4 were basically even... Great effort by Cinci...
