A&M's guards are weak when it comes to ball handling and decision making.

Texas AM has great guard depth transferred in. Nixon, Alexis Morris, Pitts, and Zay Green.

Both of these teams seem to stand around and wait for something to happen. Charlie Collier runs to a spot on the low post and just stands there.

Good effort there by Texas at the end. Typical of a Vic Schaefer team.
This is exactly what I thought. Texas was on the struggle bus all game, never could find an offensive flow, their two best players in Collier and C. Taylor both had frustrating games -- but the team on pure guts and effort, a trademark of Vic's teams, erased the deficit and had a shot at the win.

Last year under Aston this would've been a 25-point loss.

Great win by TAMU. They got Morris eligible just in time and her presence as a ball-handler and distributor did matter. The Aggies looked better today than they did against DePaul.

Collier is Texas's best option to score but didn't seem to want the ball in the 2nd half. Fatigued? Definitely not today's GOAT.

I watched most of the first half and fast forwarded to the 4th quarter...most of the clips I saw had A&M surging ahead and looked like the better team. They could be really solid this year with Johnson/Jones inside and their slew of good guards. Really impressed by Wilson and I'm stoked to see Morris back out there. She was absolutely fantastic as a freshman for Baylor a few years ago...one of the best freshmen in the country back in 2017/18. A&M had a number of pretty careless turnovers, but I think if they clean up their play they could be a very solid team.

Texas definitely had grit and fought, but man, they looked quite bad in the stretches I saw despite some good efforts. Collier had a decent statline with 14/12, but I just thought she looked quite lazy on both ends. Defensively she seemed unaware of the game around her besides her defensive assignment. Offensively she completely disappeared in the second half (no FG) and just stopped posting hard and trying to get touches. A&M was doubling her and making life very difficult, but it led to a lot of bad forced shots from guards since the entire offense is constructed around feeding her the ball inside. Probably a good learning game for her, as she really is a big fish in a small pond at Texas.

Texas will get better but it looks choppy right now. Probably will take a few years before Vic has this program finely tuned.
