I think Howard’s case is weaker this year than it was last, but not for the reasons one might think. Yes, her PPG average is down about four points, but that can easily be chalked up to the influx of talent around her this season. Her FG% is also up about 3%, and she’s averaging an extra assist per game this year.Would it look bad if she Won SECPOY and they gave NPOY to Rhyne Howard ? LOL Talk about conflict of interest !
That said, Kentucky is probably underperforming at 11-4 given the value of their new pieces. Howard seems a little less dominant this year. To be clear, she is without question SEC First Team and likely a First Team All-American as well. I just think Boston edges her in both major races right now.
