Grand Canyon is coached by former Stanford great Nicole Powell.
You're right, that's the score from 2016. They played the exactly one year ago.Wait a minute, Duke outscored little Grand Canyon 35-5 over the last 6 minutes? That can't be right.
Fire up the bus, I sense some players thrown under.63-56 Duke with 6:25 left in the game
Duke body language is horrible. What does Coach P do, exactly?
ASU and the PAC-12 fought it hard a few years ago when GCU got into D1 for hoops. As you said, they are a for-profit private school, and their tuition is more than competitive with the big PAC-12 public schools with bloated budgets. They have a nice little campus and are committed to hoops - great modern arena and Dan Majerle is their men's coach. But their lower costs are due to their questionable academic business model - 90% of their students are online only. That's too bad.
GCU is a for-profit (Christian) university, which while I'm not opposed to the concept in theory, the real-world execution of most such schools is horrific thus far.
I had heard at some point that there was an "under the table" deal for teams to boycott playing them, but I suspect something like that is a bit impossible to do. Don't expect ASU to be playing them anytime soon, however.ASU and the PAC-12 fought it hard a few years ago when GCU got into D1 for hoops. But University of Phoenix has the best football stadium of any school without a football team!I had heard at some point that there was an "under the table" deal for teams to boycott playing them, but I suspect something like that is a bit impossible to do. I also think they have debated the "for profit" model back and forth at times. It could be worse, they could be "University of Phoenix".
