Yet basketball players in the US can't turn pro until they're in their 20s?

Why not? As long as her parents don't put too much pressure on her. I'll be watching to see how she does.

Assuming that she's doing what she wants t do, how different is it from a kid playing any other sport?

A lot. I mean not even in the same realm.

Other kids are playing/practicing to be better than other kids. She's better then adults. Do you realize how many hours she would have to put in to get that good? She has to be specialized already. I don't think it's good that kids should be cutting themselves down to one sport before high school, and then for only the very, very best. (which obviously she is) Most "prodigy's" burn out really bad.
