7 win Boilermakers have picked their poison and in spite of Czinano has been a solid strategy for 3 quarters.

Will Clark break out down the stretch?
It looks like Purdue's poor conditioning will be the breaking point in this game. That aside from the fact that they're an awful team.

If Iowa wins they will play Rutgers tomorrow. That will be a good test for Clark.

I see Iowa beat Rutgers in a close game very early this season. Clark had 28 in an unusually high scoring game for Rutgers. 2nd matchup with Rutgers was cancelled. Stringer's teams tend to get much more defensive as they get better throughout the season. I've notived Rutger's opponents scoring has dropped as the year has gone on. It will be a very interesting game tomorrow.

What team presents the biggest threat to UConn?

To me........................Texas A&M.
Stanford leaps to mind, but Baylor would be an Elite Eight problem. Feel like Smith would be a tough matchup at the 4, and DiDi Richards and her wingspan could be a tough matchup on defense.

How many point blank shots has Purdue missed in this game?

How do you count that bucket? That's a clear offensive foul.

Baylor has their own issues but a Baylor team with a Smith and Egbo playing at a high level right now would be tough for anyone. Their length and physicality defensively is challenging to deal with.

Stanford is really really good obviously and really are the complete package.

Clark with 23 points, 9 assists and 6 rebounds w/ 1 steal

As much as her shot struggled to fall at times, she certainly created for her teammates.

Iowa pulling away late. Czinano knocking on the door of 40. She and Clark have combined for 65!

Czinano shined today, but Iowa’s supporting pieces really do a nice job in their roles. Martin only averages 7 ppg, but 96 assists and 36 turnovers in 24 games is really good and she can pop some threes (40 pct, with a 5-5 game). Warnock gets a steady 12 and 8 on 53 pct shooting and 45 from three (71 A/41 TO) and can make plays when called on, and Marshall shoots 48 percent from 3, so you have to play her honestly. Everyone’s job is made easier by the attention Clark draws, but they are a really good offensive team with pieces that fit well. Defense is their primary bugaboo, but they can maybe have some success with the right zones, and you know they always have a shooter’s chance against a heavy favorite.

Unfortunately to me all of the SEC teams are offensively challenged. They are also all very physical. It would be a tall task for her to drop 25 in the first half on any of them. Personally I think her temper would erupt long before the 25 point mark.

Tenn is probably the biggest and toughest team in the SEC. But they stink at guarding the perimeter. If Iowa shot like they did today they would be dead but if they shot like I've seen them do several times this year they can outscore any SEC team not named Arkansas. Creme had Iowa as a 7 seed but they could drop to an 8 and that would make them scary team to face for a 1 seed in the second round. I look at Iowa and see Dayton.

Interesting comparison.

Their game versus Rutgers is going to be interesting. The defensive pressure is going to be a lot higher than what Iowa saw today. Looking forward to the match up.

Czinano with 38 points 9 rebounds
Clark with 27 points 9 assists 7 rebounds

Helluva duo

After some initial-post research, it appears Jan Jensen oversees the posts, for Iowa and she/he does a heck of a job. I really only started watching them since the Gustafson days, but every one of their posts gets the seal down perfectly. Ball comes in, roll and shoot. Just do the Mikan drill (that Megan G. worked on endlessly) to make sure you can shoot it with both hands and you're there.

Kathleen Doyle made excellent entry passes but Clark takes it up a notch.

As an Irish fan, I flash back to Jess Shepard, who could -- and did -- set a mean seal.

Also we're a much better defensive overall than when we played them back in late December.

Add in the improvement on offense, it's a scary combination. There are a lot of good match ups today beyond Clark and Johnson.

Who Rutgers matches up with Czinano will be interesting. If it's Gilles, she's never been one to avoid being physical from what I remember in her HS days and playing for the QC provincial teams.

FS2 lucked out in this being their late game on the schedule tonight. Should be a good primetime match up.

That's the match up that scares me. It will be Singleton, but if she gets in foul trouble. I could see Mack being the one. She guarded Kate Cain back when we played NEB at home and it was surprising a good match up for us since Cain didn't have the same foot speed as Mack.

Also, we'll have Zippy Broughton back for this game as she only played the first 5 minutes of our first matchup against Iowa before going out with the lower leg injury that had her sit out for almost 3 months.

Rough shooting game for Clark but still finished with a great statline, partially thanks to Czinano finishing absolutely everything around the basket. Clark's misses though were mostly dead on but either back rim or in and out. I dont think she had one badly missed look. I will say she does look pretty disconnected from her teammates though...not a lot of smiles or high 5s. At one point Warnock went down pretty hard and was on the ground and Clark just walked right by her while other teammates went over to check on her. Not her best game but looking forward to seeing her again tonight.

Czinano is a total stud offensively. Reminds me of Gustafson with her ability to finish everything around the basket. Iowa couldnt hit a 3 all night but she was automatic and had a phenomenal game.

Every time I watch Iowa I think of how much better Ono could be offensively if she would set up as close to the basket as Czinano does. She does not make a lot of moves and very seldom has to dribble more than once, just turn and shoot. There is very little chance to make mistakes or other players to stop her from what she is attempting to do. Czinano's points per game have increased every season.

I think she was 3-14 at one point. Now shooting a respectable 8-20.
Come on nwhoopfan, 8 for 20 is not respectable. Well, maybe it is for the Pac 12.;) Not for an elite shooter like Clark.
