I don't know how you can say Texas has no talent if you watched that game. Tre Johnson probably has a higher NBA ceiling than anyone on our team.
I think he and Battle were the two best players we have faced. Guessing Johnson has higher ceiling because he is a true freshman.

I expected Top 10. I think too many are still focused on media coverage of the Maui debacle instead of recent big wins.

We are the highest ranked 3 loss team in the country. We've had some great wins, but we are definitely getting full respect, and I think our name put us a spot or 2 higher than most teams wouldve gotten in the same circumstance. Nothing to complain about here.

Yes, you're right. But one guy isn't enough. We've seen a top NBA draft choice on any number of teams who did not have adequate talent.

Doesn't sound strange to me; we haven't seen this team at their full potential yet.
The growth potential is off the charts. Wait til we hit a hot game when the threes go in. The 3 headed 5’s will be at another level by Feb 1. I think Solo struggled a bit offensively v. Zags because he is really aware that he has to defend, and it isn’t coming easy for him. He and his soph mates have the athleticism to be great defenders, it’s just going to take time. Remember DH came to UConn as a D first coach, he’s not going to forget what got him here.

Yeah. This is spot on. I think if you ask most people, not only in the BY but also across the country, do you think this uconn team is a top 5 team (staff included because it means everything) we would say yes. Even if you still wanna hedge on that these committee members have 50 some odd schools to seriously consider when putting together top 25 and they have to be completely fair based on only the games people have played. If they put us in top 5 or 10 you'd have other schools who have a legit gripe.

Incredible job by everyone involved getting us back to #11 after Maui. I was incredibly skeptical of this team, and I want to continue to be proven to be a moron.

I'm less concerned about how good/bad our losses look than about our wins.

One reason beating Gonzaga was so important is because they are the only bona fide Top 25 win on our schedule.

Now, Texas (SEC) and Baylor (Big XII) have the opportunity for some major marquee wins since those conferences were really strong out of the gates, the SEC in particular (5 of the top 7 in the poll, goodness). But if those teams faltered, and with the Big East down, it's possible we wouldn't have had a single Top 25 win all year.

Yes I totally agree. We needed to beat a quality ranked team.

Honestly after Maui I was afraid we wouldn’t have a single good OOC win and have to win the BET just to avoid the NIT. Maybe that was me panicking but it was a possibility. Now I believe that danger is off the table.

There were people killing the AP voters for still having us ranked after Maui. It's at least possible some of those voters didn't think we were as bad as we looked at our worst. Which is accurate.

Yes, this is another important point.

I felt beating Gonzaga was the difference between a 2-3 seed and a 5-6 seed if we have an expectedly-good BE season (say 14-6, 1-1 in BET).

If we have a mediocre BE season and go like 12-8, 0-1, (very unlikely admittedly) that Gonzaga win would likely be the difference between making the Tournament and not.

Dayton was maddening, they just kept making plays! Fun team if you don’t have to play them.

I'm confident Baylor will eventually be a top 15-20 team IF they can get healthy.
