It's not the cable. The phone won't even notice the attempt to charge. I've tried to "blow out" the charger port, and replace the cable - no luck.

I use AT&T but I have no interest in driving 30 min to buy an iPhone without signing a contract or changing carrier.

What is the easiest way to replace an iPhone w/AT&T as a carrier? I'll even change carriers if it can be done seamlessly online.

Unfold a paper clip and use it to dig the accumulated junk out of the charger port. It worked for me.

I used an air spray to clean out the gunk. No luck.

This tape hack worked for me for awhile with an Android. If it's a loose port, this would help.

When I used a paperclip I dug all kinds of pocket junk out of the port, even a grain of rice. The phone went from not charging at all to charging like new.

Take it to an apple store. You might get 10 bucks for it still. At least they'll recycle it.

It’s very possible the newest update made your phone obsolete. The phone itself might be fine.
Apple "winnowed' my iPad years ago. I can still read a book but some sites don't load anymore because I don't have the update.

heed the advice there - some of that dust gets outright stuck. toothpick probably a little safer than paperclip, but def. make sure you get everything out. air won't cut it.
I cut up a business card and use that to get the lint out. Works great and won't damage anything

And the humiliation you'll suffer from the people working the Genius Bar is absolutely free!
I was going to say that using a 10 year old iPhone is like watching a UConn game on a 50 year old 19" black & white TV. I once got made fun of at work for having a 3 year old iPhone.

I mean they aren’t properly suppported so security is not as strong as it could be and a lot of apps either won’t work or won’t update. Apple is pretty generous, they usually go about 6yrs before obsolescencing a device.

Just had to replace my first gen IPad Pro, but 6yrs is pretty darn good.

Turn it off. Old toothbrush and isopropyl alcohol. Will clean all of the contacts. Wait a bit before turning back on.

I know it’s charging, but seriously @temery consider going to Swappa or Backmarket and finding a used iPhone 12-13 or so. It’s a huge upgrade and will run the latest updates without the cost of a new one. If you use the camera, consider the pro. My 13 pro is going strong.

Ollie won a national championship that year. It’s pretty old.
So iPhone charging pads didn’t exist in 2014? The 2014 tech is completely incompatible with any charging pads?

Geez 10 years, was your cellular carrier called AT back then?

@temery you liked my first post, are you gonna try a charging pad? I want to know if it’ll work now

I did try the pad in my car, but I think the battery was too far gone to see it charging in the few minutes I was in the car.

I'll try again later now that it has been fully charged, and I'll get back to you.
