Bottom 3rd, Morton with a 2 out RBI single, 7-0 UConn. Smith and Simmons both walk to load the bases, but that is it for the UConn offense that inning.

Top 4th, Mike Quigley comes in to pitch.

Quiggers escapes with shutout inning. 7-0 UConn going to the bottom of the 4th.

Top 5th, Tom Ellisen in to pitch.
 
That was one of the uglier innings this offense has had in a while.

Oh well, it’s baseball.

Fastball at 95, and he threw a nasty slider at 90. He has starter potential next year.

Hoping Ellison showing out can help kid improve his summer assignment. Not sure he will have done enough for a cape invite but he can work over the summer he has tools to be a weekend guy next year

The pitching has been great vs a good offensive team that has scored a solid amount of runs vs. Virginia, Washington, Mercer, Sam Houston State, etc.

The offense has been nonexistent vs. a gruesome bullpen since the 2nd inning.

Weird game.

I've been meaning to ask this and don't post here enough to start a new thread. Does Pete Walker have any close ties to the program? He's been the Blue Jays pitching coach forever it seems. I remember the day he was drafted and celebrated at Huskies.........
 
Bottom 8th, the URI closer comes in to pitch, and he walks the first 2 UConn batters, and a wild pitch puts 2 runners in scoring position with no outs. With 2 outs, Studley reaches 1B after striking out, error on the catcher. Broadhurst follows with a double, driving in 2 runs. 9-0 UConn.
