10 Programs Going Up, 10 Programs Going Down (The Athletic)

PSA - sometimes the best comic relief is venturing over to the fruit stand board. Especially when it comes to our basketball success vs. their failure. Someone over there did post the actual list.

on the rise:

Alabama
Arkansas
FSU
Grand Canyon
Illinois
Iona
Michigan
OK State
Texas Tech
UConn (Gulp)

On the decline

Arizona
Duke
Georgetown
Indiana
Kansas
Kentucky
LSU
New Mexico
Notre Dame
Syracuse

Syracuse is going through exactly what you would expect as their hall of fame coach gets closer to retirement. Add the new league and it is entirely predictable. It is pretty common. Even Calhoun’s teams started slipping later in his tenure, although the 2011 title kind of offset/ hid it. Not as much as most but a bit. The ACC move hurt too in that the Orange had no identity and I think got/ still get the short end from officials.

He retired in 2012.

2009 they were in the Final Four and were one of the best two teams all year.
2010 was a step back because they lost AJ/Adrien/Hasheem and Kemba wasn't ready yet. Expected
2011 Champions
2012 lots of talent, but young guards and a logjam in the paint.

Now compare that to Boeheim.
