>Jamar Summers, CB, Connecticut
2015 snaps: 784; Grade: 84.3
2016 snaps: 853; Grade: 53.9

Summers was so good in 2015 he even made our Preseason All-Group of 5 Team in 2016 and was among the highest-graded players at his position as a sophomore. However, quarterbacks were not afraid of Summers — it was just the opposite, as they went after him and the UConn cornerback was unable to slow down passing games. Summers was actually fortunate when it came to touchdowns, as he gave up the same amount as in 2015, but he surrendered more than three times as many yards – 796 compared to 250 – as a junior than as a sophomore. Summers didn’t log many big plays, either, as the number of interceptions he recorded dropped from eight to just two in 2016. Since cornerback is one position that depends largely on confidence, the offseason and taking a break should do Summers well as he is in need of gaining confidence going into his final season as a Connecticut Husky.<

Can the Cox, Crocker and Edsall help him gain his confidence back? The coaches know that was the problem and I bet they get him back to 2015 again!

I am sure Summers still wakes up in a cold sweat after another Cuse nightmare flashback. That was a classic case of BD not being able to adjust during the game.

The saddest part is that decision (or lack of a decision) may not even crack the top 5 of the worst coaching decisions of 2016. To name a few:

-Burning the redshirt on DW (this has to be #1 IMO)
-Clock fiasco at the end of Navy
-Playing an injured BS and then throwing him under the bus
-The bizarre fake FG attempts that were justified by explaining that the other team had scored a touchdown so we needed one too
-Installing new OC on a short week with a new QB

I'm sure we could add many more

-Passing the ball at the end of the Cincy game when we were trying to salt it away and run the clock down
-Handing 3 pts to SU because he called a TO with 20 secs on the play clock to set up our FG leaving them time to march down the field and erase our score

YES. Those two decisions were terrible. Thank God we don't need to watch another season of that. Even if we're bad, we'll be competently coached.
